Don't be too shocked when you see what even older, abused Wranglers are going for!
YOU might do better looking for a Jeep Liberty with either the 6 speed or 4X4, either can be flat-towed, as can some Patriots.

For my '95 YJ with a salvage title I gave $4K, and that's before I painted it, put new tires on it and redid the interior. Pulls sweet though. Lighter than our JK/S, and more fun on the beach.

Hard to find sometimes, but I just found an '05 Liberty Sport 4x4, garage kept when it wasn't being towed, 94K miles, with a Blue Ox baseplate and wired for the brake control, for $5k. Good ones are getting fewer and farther between...
