My HIke 172BH came with the Connexx WMS-DVDZ3 and I would like to upgrade the speakers (interior and exterior). Has anyone done this? Any speaker recommendations? Are the speaker covers easy to remove? Thank you.

We are looking at the Hike and I get the exo-skeleton for being able to add Yak & Thul attachments but what about the rails running from the wheel wells and around. Would like to see what people are using them for. Trying to see what the gain is from a Like to any other Mini.

Bump out manual operations
Has anybody figured out how to manually move the bump out? I've looked everywhere, I have the tool but don't know where to use it.

Tank heaters
I have a Hike 170S and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the tank heater strips? According to the manual it appears that each tank, using DC power, consumes approximately 5 amps/hour. If this is correct an 80 Ahr battery would only last about 3 hours before reaching 10.5 volts. Any experience with below freezing temperatures without using the heater strips? Thanks

RandE, welcome.
Be aware that any device that uses electrical resistance to produce heat will be a massive power hog. And these tank heaters will deplete batteries in no time flat. It is generally expected that if you want to use these for a long period of time that you will use them only when plugged into “shore power” not when on battery.
Using your propane furnaces helps some to keep pipes from freezing. Note that it also uses a lot of power to run the fan.
In short your travel trailer is designed for use in temperatures above freezing other than the occasional overnight dip in temps. And, as delivered, has less than 40 usable amp hours of 12v battery storage (assuming you have 80 amp hours of total storage).

We just started looking at this model. Couple of questions for owners that are hard to suss out on the website and reviews.
- Has anyone removed the black tank & toilet and replaced with a dry flush? If so any estimates on how complicated it is? Our experience is dry flush toilets are vastly superior, especially when boondocking for extended periods.
- Has anyone upgraded the electrical system with more solar panels and lithium batteries? In our old camper van we had 400W of solar and 4 giant lithium batteries, so we could run AC for 30-40 minutes, plus exhaust fan and fridge 24x7 without ever running out of power. Seems like the Hike is a bit short in this arena. Similarly if anyone has done this, what was the level of effort / is everything wired 'well enough' as a starting point?
- Has anyone used the exoskeleton for a rooftop tent or seating? This is less of a priority, but might be a cool bonus.

I have a 172BH. Wanted to put it in the front storage compartment for better temperature control with my lithium battery.

Question on hike roof
Hi everyone. We just purchased a 2022 winnebago hike and just took it home and got a ladder and went up to clean the solar panel. We hadnt checked the roof at the dealership but assumed it was ok…..well the roof is all wavy and the center of the roof where the solar panel is dips in about 2”. How is the roof on everyone elses hike? Is this common or will this be an issue?

I have not noticed this at all on ours (170S 2022). We are up on our roof often, as we have had some water issues. I was looking for pics of our roof to share, but I just have sections of it. Next time we're out, I'll try to remember and post them for you to look at.

I would love to see pics of your roof especially by your solar panel. Winnebago is trying to tell us all the hikes haves dips in the roof. Ours is so big when it rains the solar panel and its wiring is underwater and sits like that for a week until it finally dries out, only to be submerged during the next storm…its only a matter of time till it leaks, and its lousy on the solar output since the panel is underwater! The dealer said it looked like a structural issue but winnebago denied their repair claim and said they wont fix it unless its actually leaking! Just awful!

Hike problems
We own a 2022 Hike 172BH and had many problems. My AC does not work and makes load mechanical noises, my furnace does not work either. The rear stabilizer does not function, and the batch room vent does not open. Love the RV but man….it breaks a lot. Any similar issues out there?

We had many issues our first year with ours (2022 170S). Knock on wood the 2nd year is going well. "Funny" enough, they were not the same as yours, just a whole other batch of issues. Our issues 1st year included: water leak from hose under the sink, water leak from hose under the bathroom sink, water leak from window on passenger side, water leak from roof seam from driver side, the bottom of the overhead shelves just fell out, propane spray from hoses (that one was scary), and our front stabilizers were hitting our spare so they had to be moved...twice.
Like you, I love the little guy, but it's been a...journey.

New Hike Owner
We have just purchased a "new to us" 2021 Hike 170s. Have not take it
out yet, just getting acquainted with the internals and externals.
However, we did find a wire (hot) under the bench seat in the dinette closest
to the bed. We have yet to figure out what that wire was intended for.
Happy to find this forum and if anyone has good or bad comments about
the Hike, we would welcome any feedback.
