A 2" ball will be more than just loose in the 2-5/16 coupler. If you pull your ball mount from your bumper, you can easily check the fit. You will be able to place the ball into the coupler without even releasing the latch. The ball has to be a little bit loose so as not to bind. But if the ball is the correct size for the coupler, it will be impossible to get the ball into or out of the coupler without releasing the latch.

Be sure your dealer put the correct size on your hitch. You'll find the size that the Hike requires stamped on the ball coupler at the end of your TT's A-Frame.
When your dealer set up your hitch he had to inspect the trailer connected to the hitch. If there was a size issue he would have known it instantly.

My Minnie is the first trailer I've owned that lacked any stamp on the tongue identifying the ball size. I have never seen a travel trailer with anything other than a 2-5/16 ball, but the Hike is more a "teardrop" than a TT. There are a lot more Winnie Drop owners out there, and they probably have the same frame and coupler as the Hike.
As far as the dealer checking your hitch, mine didn't. I didn't buy it from him, so I didn't really expect him to check it out. He asked if I had a hitch, I said yes. That was the extent of his "inspection".
