Updating to a single handle shower faucet

I know several have done this on the forum, but I thought I'd show it and a little extra. This is a Dura Faucet DF-SA150 that's a little over 30 bucks. It's probably the easiest upgrade I've made so far! I have the Oxygenics shower disconnected in the photo while the caulk sets up.

But the reason I'm posting is that I took a snapshot down in the space behind the shower when the faucet was out. On the 2018 2108DS the shower is in the street side back corner with the faucet at a 45 degree angle in the corner.

The water connections going to the right must go to the outside shower. To the left they head behind the toilet to the corner cabinet where they turn into the low-point drains. You can also see the black plastic Furion 30A shore line connector as well as wiring for a side marker light and tail light.

I didn't think to take a picture pointing up (doh!) but presumably it goes all the way to the roof. The skylight is right next to it so this might be a handy way to get some heavy gauge wire routed up to the top for my future solar project. I have some photos of the space under the slideout but I'll need to get a photo on the rearward side of the fender to see if cable can be routed from that space to the back corner shown here.

BTW, I started an album of access panels and spaces and such: https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...albums318.html

Tinglett,
I don't have your model RV, but if I did I would be very happy to have those pictures handy.
Great job.

Tinglett, I need to change out my shower tap as it will not close 100% and I get a constant drip when pump is on.

I'm looking to order the single handle Dura 150 that you have and just wonder how it operates as single handle faucets today operate differently.

Does the base of the leaver pull towards you to turn on, or is it off when vertical and swinging it left of center 1/4 turn adds hot and swinging it right or center 1/4 turn adds cold.

What do you think of the Oxygenics hand held shower? Does it shut off 100% at the handle or to a trickle like 90% of the others out there.

Thanks,

The Dura Faucet turns on by pulling the level toward you, and off by pushing it away. Left/right angle changes the mix for hot/cold. I do use it with an Oxygenics hand held shower, which I removed the pushbutton valve as I didn't really need it anymore. I've had that valve removed for quite some time now, so I don't recall if it leaked or not.

I've used this faucet for quite some time now and it works well. You can control the flow rate very well so it's pretty easy to save water. It isn't perfect for holding a temperature as it's easy to accidentally slip the angle of the handle when pulling on or pushing off, but a nudge or two and you can get the temp back again.

Todd, thanks for the update. Ordered

Are you happy with the Oxygenic sprayer, does it provide more pressure with its technology.

Is the spray broad enough for your liking?

Hi Lyle,
I do like the Oxygenics spray head. I did some tests with it here:
The Shower of Power
The shut-off at the handle is designed to give you a dribble mode. It didn't work for me, so I removed it.
Thanks, Eagle5

I definitely like it too. Big difference. I also find it is easy to hang onto it by the head since it has a little cross-brace you can grip. It's easy to "aim" it this way when your eyes are full of soap

Installed the Dura single handle faucet and new Oxygenic hand held shower.

I'm not real happy with the 60" plastic hose that came with the Oxygenic's it's a plastic imitation of a flexible stainless hose. It's not real flexible, especially when the tap outlet and shower handle are 36" apart.

Hoping after its had some hot water through it, it soften up and becomes more flexible.

Ran my new faucet today to confirm no leaks.

When I run the shower there are no leaks. When I shut the water off, the hose drains back and I get water running out at the tap below where the hose connects.

Their is a space between the fitting the hose threads onto and the brushed nickel cover (see gap in photo) . See second picture for the water flowing.

Drain back is normal. It does this on my 2 handle shower.

There is a weep hole just for that purpose. Fred had mentioned this in another post and I wasn't sure what he meant. The purpose is to prevent water sitting in the hose and going stagnant.

Dura sent me pictures of the actual location. If any water gets between the black plastic supply and the finished chrome trim hope it flows right back out the bottom rather than follow the plastic and out behind the shower wall.

Sorry for being so paranoid, but having had plumbing leaks from loose fittings set me off.

I wonder if the threads are standard (or easily adapted) so you could substitute a long standard stainless supply line hose. I can't say the hose has become more flexible over time. It never really wants to go where you want it to, but the shower head in general works very well.

I have read that the hoses are standard, but have not checked that personally.

I think a shorter hose would definitely help with the hose going where you don't want it. Had the outlet for the tap been on the bottom, only one loop would be present and that in itself would have helped with the hose going where you don't want it.

I found a 48" hose (not 48" from tap to floor or tap to ceiling) online that might solve all these issues. May look into that when I get back from my up coming trip.

PurrfectZone Shower Hose Replacement - perfect for Shower or Bidet Sprayer, easy installation (48 inch, Brushed Nickel)

You folks have convinced me. I ordered one in white. I already have the Oxygenic CareSpa and love it. Here is what I am replacing.

I'd never go back. The Dura Faucet and Oxygenic combination is very nice.

I also updated the sink with a Dura Faucet DF-NML210-SN. I'd highly recommend it, too. I've only had it installed 1 year, but so far no issues and I can operate with one hand.

I installed it a few minutes ago, very easy. Only hand tightened the 3 fittings. Haven't put water to it yet. White on white is poor photo contrast.

tinglett, thanks for starting this thread.

All done. Pressurized Minnie with city water. Filled hot water tank. Turned on electricity to heat the water. Waited until current dropped from 12 amps to 0 amps. Turned on shower and found the sweet spot for temperature. So happy with how easy it was to adjust the temperature. Wish I had done this 4 years ago when we bought the Minnie.
