Toilet seal preservation

What do you do with your toilet when winterizing? I’ve already found that leaving the bowl empty can ruin the seal. So do you leave a small amount or antifreeze in the bowl? Or there are toilet seal products out there. Is that a better choice? I would think it would be good to attend to the toilet seal monthly thru the winter? Anyone put toilet seal product in holding tanks for the winter ? Curious what others regiment looks like.

Hi Keith,
I put a dash of the pink antifreeze in my toilet to keep the seal moist and prevent any trace water from freezing. At only four or five years old, your 2018 trailer's seal should still have been OK. I wonder if somebody cleaned-out the toilet with a harsh cleaner or bleach, and damaged the seal?

This year I went with antifreeze. Previously had been adding Thetford RV Toilet Seal Lube and Conditioner, however found it to start icing over during the colder days. My plan is to add the lube and seal in the spring, prior to camping season, letting the antifreeze drain into the tank.

Vegetable oil keeps the seal from drying out. 1/4 cup.
After you’ve blown out the line and valve with 30psi air.

I pour most of a gallon of antifreeze in the black tank and just close the toilet valve in time to leave a cup or two in the bowl.
