Spray on truck bed liner in wheel wells
I have an idea and curious about opinions and experience. I don’t like that the only thing separating my wheels and the interior under cabinet area (near the pump) is a thin sheet of folded galvanized steel like in-home duct work. I also don’t like the appearance from the outside. I thought about buying a couple cans of Herculiner or something similar to spray on the exterior side of this sheet metal. Has anyone done this before or can anyone think of a reason not to? I have a Micro Minnie 2108DS.

I find bed liner to be good for beds but prefer the much cheaper undercoater for the bottom side. Both are just thick paint and will chip off when rocks hit it but then it just needs a watch for repair when it gets bad enough to bother.

Your correct to worry, I once had a blowout on my Arctic Fox TT that blew a hole in that inner liner and we found pieces of tire in the kitchen cabinets.
The truck bed stuff never occurred to me.

Flex-Seal
IMO, due to its rigidity, I think bed liner has the potential to crack and/or chip. I actually used Flex-Seal. Cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol and applied two coats. Waterproof and flexible.
I think it visually turned out well. We'll see if it lasts.

Went with some spray on Hurculiner
Well I decided to go with some spray on bed liner. I used 2 rattle cans. Time will tell how well it holds up. If nothing else, it makes it look a lot better. It’s still a fairly thin layer so I don’t know how much protection it will add.

Product info of Flex Seal says it's a thick liquid and it seeps into cracks.
Did you have any issues of it running/sagging on upper and vertical surfaces?

Finally got some time to get a quick snapshot. No drips or runs whatsoever. I had an extra can leftover from my slide disaster so that worked out well.
What I especially liked was that the texture is very close to the wheelwell trim and blended in nicely.
I forgot to mention that I also applied a coat of primer prior to the Flex-Seal. Note that this was my approach to this and may not be suitable for everyone!

I used it for the underbody of my F-150 and it's 1/3 of the cost.

Looking trough my paint storage cabinet I have some Proform Rubberized Gravelguard spray Unfortunately its white, fortunately for me its paintable and I happen to have some black paint.
Any thoughts on Rubberized Gravelguard or Rockguard products?

I’m thinking that would work, but I would be concerned with how well the paint will stick. Only because if it wears, chips, or flakes your base is white and it will probably show. Also with the Herculiner I used two cans so I’m not sure if one can will be enough.

Lyle, I recommend purchasing the Rustoleum undercoating I linked to in my previous post. You can't beat it for $10 a can
