Some trailering specs

I did a round trip from So Cal to Death Valley. I hit the CAT scale in Barstow to get some stats. It was really easy to do using the phone app. Cost $12.50 first weigh and the next two were $3 each - considered reweighs. Here you go and hope it helps anyone interested.

2019 GMC Canyon V6 All Terrain 4WD
GVWR: 6000 lbs/ GCVWR: 12000 lbs, Hitch Wt Rating: 770 lbs, Blue Ox Sway Pro 750 9 links

2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2225RL
GVWR: 6000 lbs, Dual 20 lb propane, 2 x LiFePO4 in the front pass through
Per Winnebago: 28" from the ground to the top of the coupler is considered level

Start of trip (loaded with food, bedding, gear, etc.)

Truck + Trailer w/WDH: Steer axle 2580 lbs, Drive axle 3200 lbs, Trailer axles 5000 lbs

GCVW 10780 lbs

Truck + Trailer wo/WDH: Steer axle 2400 lbs, Drive axle 3440 lbs, Trailer axles 4940 lbs

GCVW 10780 lbs

Truck Only (Full tank of gas, Driver and passenger. Bed pretty much empty): Steer axle 2780 lbs, Drive axle 2280 lbs

GVW 5060 lbs

10780 - 5060 = 5720 lbs GVW Trailer

5720 - 4940 = 780 lbs Tongue Weight

Return Trip after reorganizing the bins
(moved everything into the back bins. Front pass through now has a folding ladder, two camping chairs, Weber Q grill, broom, outdoor floor mat, 2 x LiFePO4 100amph batteries, misc small stuff. Extra bedding inside was moved to the back during the trip home.)

Truck + Trailer w/WDH: Steer axle 2640 lbs, Drive axle 3060 lbs, Trailer axles 5020 lbs

GCVW 10720 lbs

Truck + Trailer wo/WDH: Steer axle 2440 lbs, Drive axle 3320 lbs, Trailer axles 4940 lbs

GCVW 10700 lbs

Truck Only (Full tank of gas, Driver and passenger. Bed pretty much empty): Steer axle 2780 lbs, Drive axle 2300 lbs

GVW 5080 lbs

10700 - 5080 = 5620 lbs GVW Trailer

5620 - 4940 = 680 lbs Tongue Weight

Truck has plenty of power and my max speed was 65 mph. I rarely go beyond 65 mph even when I tow my boat or when I had a 32 ft. class C + dinghy. Went up the Cajon pass at 65 mph around 4200 rpm. Averaged 11 mpg. Didn't experience much sway but I can tell there was something back there. Only thing that is disappointing is the payload capacity of the truck. I wish it had a bit more. Might have to eventually upgrade in the future.

Thanks Jokaj,
Although your MM weighs 400lb more than mine dry, we pretty much have the same rig. We’ve got about 10,000mi logged over the past year, and never found the gas Canyon to be under powered. No problems in the eastern mountains. However, like you, we struggle with the payload. Had to remove everything from bed, weigh everything, then put heavier stuff in pass thru. This got about 100lbs off the canyon rear axle. So now, when we carry full water and mount our bikes over tonneau, we’re right at the payload limit, maybe a little over. I like the truck and really would rather not buy a 1/2 ton.

Same here. Love my canyon but would be hard press to take my family of four and the trailer.
