My opinions:
You should always check for debris before closing.
You can wipe off excess water, but not much will come into the trailer when closing.
If it’s raining, better to leave open if it’s already open.
Yes hold the close open button for a couple of seconds after closing/opening until you hear a distinct click, like a latch closing.
Never stop the slide partially open or partially closing. This could twist the rubber flaps and make it impossible to get a good seal.
I turn off the power switch while traveling and depend on the motor resistance and lock mechanism. I don’t use a travel lock bar with the Lipper because it’s rack and pinion. I did use one with an older trailer and motorhome.
