Slideout Questions

Hi everyone. Just got a new MM 2108TB. I have never had a slideout before and have some questions.

1. before closing I realize you need to check for any debris before closing. What about water? Do you wipe it dry first? Can you close while raining?

2. I have the Lippert manual which states to hold in/out button a few seconds longer when closing/opening to make sure the motor shuts off.

However, the Winnebago manual states to open/close most of the way and then check the perimeter seal behind the wood trim and if not in contact, briefly push rocker switch til makes contact.

Which of these is correct?

The Winnie manual also states to leave slideout power on after closing as that keeps the electric brake engaged while traveling.

It also recommends a travel lock bar. Is this necessary.

Thanks for the help.

My opinions:
You should always check for debris before closing.
You can wipe off excess water, but not much will come into the trailer when closing.
If it’s raining, better to leave open if it’s already open.
Yes hold the close open button for a couple of seconds after closing/opening until you hear a distinct click, like a latch closing.
Never stop the slide partially open or partially closing. This could twist the rubber flaps and make it impossible to get a good seal.
I turn off the power switch while traveling and depend on the motor resistance and lock mechanism. I don’t use a travel lock bar with the Lipper because it’s rack and pinion. I did use one with an older trailer and motorhome.
