I have heard that the clear domes on the roof above the shower can get dried out and cracked and will need to be replaced which isn't easy. Is there a way to protect these? Should I put some kind of vent cover on?
Never had a clear dome before so need some advice.
I painted mine with Plasti-Dip white spray paint, mostly to reduce the heat gain from the sun shining on it. But I suppose it also provides some UV protection for the plastic. The heat gain was reduced significantly but it also lets through less light of course so the bathroom is darker during the day. And no more stargazing while showering at night. Painting prep was simple, wiped the dome down with alcohol, masked off the edges, and sprayed away, did multiple coats until the can was empty. Have driven several thousand miles with it so far and it's holding up fine. The Plasti-Dip is said to peel off easily if you want to remove it but not so easily that it will blow off in the wind. Time will tell.
Plasti-dip is pretty robust. I dechromed the front grill of my old Tacoma using it. Not a bit came off in 29000 miles. I removed it all (by peeling it away) before trading it on the F-350. That grill looked brand new. It's good stuff, and not a bad idea at all if you're okay with losing some light inside.

I use a combination of Plexus (to clean and leave a finish) and Aerospace 303 (protectant) on almost everything that's exposed to the sun. Will protect from fading/cracking and keep it looking new.
As the previous post correctly stated, 303 is a great sun protector. Every couple of months I spray ALL the plastic on the roof (dome, hatch, vents, A/C, antenna) plus I spray the awning where the sun hits it and the slide toppers.

I might add most importantly, using it on the tires. Clean well using a bristle brush. Let dry and then liberally apply 303. Use a non-absorbent cloth to spread evenly and apply again if necessary. Do not wipe off.
Using any other "dressing" on your tires (unless labeled as a UV protectant) may prematurely promote cracking.
