Range/Oven to Cooktop Conversion
Hello All,
I would like to pull out my Range/Oven and replace it with a slide in cooktop as typically done if the oven option 0413 isn't chosen.
My range/Oven is a Wedgewood RV-1735 and the replacement cooktop is a CV-35 (Wedgewood) or CA35 (Atwood). Both these units are now discontinued and have been replaced with the Dometic 50310 (S31) which is being phased out shortly.
I have reached out to Dometic to confirm the cutout dimensions are identical to my Wedgewood as I have found conflicting information out there.
I know Tinglett and Fred 2106DS pulled their microwaves in favor of storage space. Tinglett had to make his own doors and none were ever made and he did a great job doing so. Fred took the simple route and closed it off with netting. Both good solutions.
I've reached out to Winnebago to see if the color matched door panel for the no oven option is still available.
Has anyone here done the Range/Oven switch to regain the extra cabinet storage space. What did you use for a replacement Cooktop in light of the OEM unit at the time, discontinued.

Thanks for sourcing the range top. Just a thought but they also have a 2 burner, which I personally would choose. One could theoretically fabricate a countertop to wall stainless-steel panel with a cutout for the dual burner moved to the right as far as allowable. My guess is that you'd probably gain 12"-18" extra countertop space.
https://www.recpro.com/rv-two-burner...op-with-cover/
All moot however as it's out of stock.

Winnebago has already made this change on the newer 2021 and newer 2108 Models.
Not sure if they had to change the cupboard interior width from the previous model years (above counter Bi fold Cover) to this new flush mounted glass cover and Suburban Cooktop. The counter cutout would be slightly larger as the Suburban 3600A or 3631A is a tad wider (3/8") and slightly longer (7/8") than the old Wedgewood, Atwood and Dometic 3 Burner Cook Tops.
The first picture is the original OEM installed cooktop in my 2017.
The second picture is the being phased out Dometic 50301
The third picture is the Suburban 3600A
The fourth picture is the Suburban 3631A
The Fifth picture, Not sure the model as the cover looks to mount to the stove directly. The newer Suburban Cooktops 3600+ may mount differently.
last picture is the 2022 Micro Minnie 2108 with the Suburban Cooktop and flush Bi Fold glass cover

Ordered that Suburban Cooktop 3631A yesterday. This model and all current models are 3/8" wider than the original Wedgewood. That means I need to widen the face of the cabinet 3/16" each side to stay centered in cabinet. Of course a new base will have to be installed to support the cooktop as it no longer hangs from the counter top as did the range/oven.
Now I need to get the glass cover. In my research I have come across three models. Two of which are discontinued, but still stocked in short supply.
The first one is a black glass cover (our 2017 Micro Minnie has dark counters), the second a transparent glass cover and the third is the current model (3085A) transparent with a handle. A handle, what that means I do not know (no pictures). Can anyone chime in here and educate me on what Suburban now considers a handle. Is it a cutout in the glass or does the front edge of the glass now have a rolled edge and shown in the 2nd picture.
Lastly, to accommodate the flush glass cover the counter cutout will need to be widened 1 1/4" each side and the rear cutout pushed back 2 5/8". Doing so all clearances are still within tolerance.
The first picture is the flush mounted stove in a 2021 (started late 2020) 2106 Micro Minnie (2017) which I have. The last picture is the flush mounted cooktop in a 2022 Micro Minnie 2108.
If anyone here has a late 2020 or newer 2106 Micro Minnie with standard laminate counter and a flush glass cover, could you post a picture here showing how it and where it sits on the counter.
What is the overall width and depth of the glass top, I cannot find that anywhere.
I wonder if Winnebego shifted the ranges with flush mounted tops, yet stay with in minimum clearances (clearance minimum = 6" from center of rear burner to fridge wall, 9" from center of rear burner to rear wall).

Ready to re assemble once the new maple structure comes back from the wood finisher. Having then stained to match the old uprights.
Put backing in the back of the cabinet for mounting the drawer slides.
The accommodate the glass cover the counter cutout had to be made wider and the cabinet had to be shifted towards the door 1"

Looks good. Appears you also had to modify the water line runs a little. Are your internal propane lines flexible hose? All my internal lines are copper tubing.

Yes tweaked the water lines to clear the back of the drawers.
There is a 10" piece of copper tube off the cooktop (original from Range). From there the propane hose is rubber through the floor. I looped the rubber propane feed behind the sink drain for drawer clearance as well.
Yes the runs to the water heater and fridge are rubber.
I would assume the runs under the trailer are copper and then tee'd to the flexible rubber lines feeding each of the appliances (But it's anyone guess).
Waiting for the new cabinet framing and will then complete the install. Temporarily fitted the drawers to confirm door sizes.
Didn't have to change any of the propane lines, only put a slight "S" in the original 10" long propane feed.

Lyle, did you finish your install?
I started working on mine. I found this Furrion cooktop that drops right in without any modifications.

Nice, I never looked at the Furrion Cooktops, that would have saved me a ton of work. I would still suggest to replace the left vertical upright so if you install drawers and drawer fronts you with have the overlap (typical) without being right against the under sink door.
My new verticals were not ready (stained) before I went away on the 9th. Supposed to be done this week. Will forward pictures once the slides and drawers are installed.

I finished ours the other day. I turned the space into a place to put a corner litterbox for our two cats. We use dustless litter so it should work well. Also, I completely sealed the interior space. My wife is going to fashion a litter catching mat for under the litterbox and a curtain for across the front that will still allow access.
Currently we have the top entry litterbox and litter catching mat located in the shower stall and need to remove them to use the shower.

Looks great Lyle!
Our conversion to a litterbox enclosure has worked out well. We were just out for over a week and the cats had no problems with using the new litterbox location.
Currently I'm experimenting with using a folding Coleman Camping Oven on the cooktop for those rare occasions when we may want to use an oven.

Fred, had you thought about using the old range as an outdoor unit?

No, I hadn't really thought about that. I was looking for something that would be easy to store and still work reasonably well, so far the Coleman oven meets the first criteria. I plan to experiment with it over the next couple weeks to see how well it works. If we carried an outdoor stove with a round burner we could use the oven outside, but we carry a Weber-Q grill.
The little I have played with the oven, I've learned not to trust the built in temperature gauge. Comparing using a digital thermometer, 300 degrees F on the temp gauge appears to be closer to 350 and 325 on the temp gauge appears to be closer to 400. The oven does not seem heat up the inside of the camper too much as long as the hood vent fan is running. Initially, I was able to get the oven to over 550 degrees which allowed for burn off. It did smoke and smell some for a little while.
From the little experimenting I've done, it doesn't seem to need a very heavy burner flame to bring it up to 350-400 degrees. Using it over the hi output burner set at 1/3, it easily reaches over 400 degrees.

Hi! What durian model was yours? Looks great. I don’t even need to remove the oven, I would just like a plug and play stove/oven, but one that has a fishmonger glass like this cooktop. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Josh,
It appears the Furrion cooktop I installed has been discontinued and replaced with this model: FGHWCLDA. Here's a link to the stainless steel version on Amazon.
I don't believe you will be able to just replace the cooktop on your current cooktop/oven combination. I believe you will find that the unit you currently have is an all-in-one unit and the cooktop can't be separated from the oven.

Thank you Fred. Thanks for the link as well. Was hoping it would work or that maybe there was a plug n play all in one unit that someone knew of. I’ll keep searching. Everything works great on mine, just looking to update a little here and there and help create more counter space. Thanks again

We found we just used the oven as a bread box, so forgoing the oven, the extra cupboard space is nice now. Had I found the Furion I would have gone that route as cupboard modification would have not been needed.
