Still looking for a way to mute the speaker. On a trip to Florida it was annoying having to hear all the road noise. I'd like to take it apart and see if the speaker can be disabled by snipping a wire or a pin.

But first I'm just going to put a piece of black electric tape over the speaker output holes and see if that quiets it down enough to not be noticeable.

Voyager removed

I negotiated in the Voyager camera system into my 2021 micro minnie. However, i replaced it within a month.

I did this because the voyager camera was shaky and jumpy and had the aforementioned sound issues.

i wrote it off and bought the haloview system (with voyager adapter) so that i could have side cameras as well. i now have a backup camera, rear camera and two side cameras and absolutely love it. Its a game changer being able to see the sides of my rv and install was pretty easy.

And this mount, works on the bean bag or the windshield. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There is a Voyager mount. https://www.amazon.com/Haloview-Brac...807423&sr=8-21

Yakry camera

We got our 2021 2108DS last spring and I'm planning on adding a back-up camera. Lots of folks on this site recommended Yakry in the past; do those who have them still still recommend them?

We’ve had our two Yakry cameras for over two years. (Second camera was sent free on request). Although Yakry was one of the cheapest rear camera systems, it has worked flawlessly so far. The monitor gives a good clear picture on both right rear and left rear, so it’s easy to know if it’s safe to change lanes. The second camera is used to stick on our truck with a magnet when I need a better view of the hitch or obstacles. I do not use the Yakry as a substitute for a spotter when backing up. Overall, I’m quite happy that this particular piece of cheap Chinese electronics has worked well.

Jim, a see you have the Champion 2500 inverter generator; reports say they are hard to start on propane. Do you know if they have rectified that issue? Happy with yours?

They are harder to start on propane than on gas. When using gas they start up on second pull after one priming pull. However, I never use gasoline. So, there’s a trick to starting on propane (which plagues all propane generators, not just this one. You have to get the propane from the tank to the carburetor. A series of 5 or 8 short priming pulls usually does the trick. Then set the choke halfway between the gas setting and the propane setting. One addition long pull and it starts right up. Also, it’s much easier to start if it has been run a few times so the oil is still in circulation. When I first bought it, I was a little frustrated. But now, after two years with it, I love it. It’s so much better than using gasoline. On the second day of use, it only takes 3 priming pulls.

"Prepped" for Voyager Rear Camera

Thanks Pauldridge for all the info on the Vakry camera. I just received my order. The company now offers 50 percent off any accessory item which includes a second camera or a license plate camera. I'll get the second camera and use the same method that you did for power and mounting. You certainly saved me a ton of time trying to figure out what I needed for this project. I owe you at least a good IPA buddy!

I checked with a couple of the Winnebago Trailer owner websites on Facebook and the backup camera that was most recommended was the Haloview brand of cameras. It seems for the features and price this was highly recommended. It is about half the cost of a Voyager camera which is what my RV dealer insisted I should get as the trailer was prewired for that brand and the RV dealer did have them in stock. I opted for the Haloview, check You Tube lots of videos on them.

We have been using the Haloview MC7108 over 2 1/2 years and it has been excellent.

So...is this setup...the one that you did...the one that it is pre-wired for?

tcaudle2001, I'm not sure who you are addressing this question to but I have some really good information on how to connect the Haloview MC7108 camera to the Voyager wiring if you are interested.

Sure Ken/Joyce! That would be great. I thought (incorrectly) that I was posting an in-line response to someone that mentioned a specific Voyager model. But, all good. I am exploring all options....

Thanks!

People have used the Voyage cover plate to mount the camera. A hole needs to be drilled for the power cable to go through and of course, mounting holes. These all get sealed with a little silicone adhesive as well as the plate.
Cut the Voyage connector off and connect the Haloview cable, with small wire nuts, to the Voyage wires, red to red and black to black. To turn on the camera connect the trailer cable to the tow vehicle and turn the head or parking lights on. The camera is connected to the running lights.

I keep reading that the camera connector is powered by the trailer running lights.

I just installed the Yakry RV camera in my '22 2327TB. I disconnected the 7 pin connector from the truck and moved the truck aside. I was surprised to find that the camera was still working even though there were no running lights on!

Apparently, Winnebago now has a dedicated 12 power supply to the camera.

NomadRider I have read that before and I don't know where it is powered from. Even though the camera uses little power that could be a problem running the battery down without anything to keep the battery trickle charged. For years the rearview cameras have been powered by the running lights.

I agree, having the camera energized all the time could cause battery drain.

In my case, when the camper is being towed it draws power from the tow vehicle, if dry camping the factory solar panel should overcome the slight drain, on shore power it's not an issue and when stored the battery is disconnected.

Having a way to disconnect the power from an unused electrical device is always best but, given the options of being powered by a lighting circuit or a dedicated feed, I'll take the dedicated feed.
