I have or will be getting a 2019 Minnie Plus with "white" plastic tile behind stove and what I call the buffet. I don't mind it being there but want a different color- can you put another layer of different color on top- of course it is not under warranty. Or does it have to be removed first?

Personal I would take down the old and put up the new. The old is only glued in. If it comes loose of separates all of it would come down. I wouldn't take the chance.

I would also remove the existing material.

Just the plastic back splash. Not the wall beside it. Or the wall paper. That should be fine.

Our 2529RG has wood (refer surround) along the left side of the stove. We will add whatever we decide to use for the backsplash on that side also when/if we decide to do that project. We would use something that is fairly easy to get on and off. The plastic sheet material on ours expands in the heat and has no room to expand on the bottom and top, so raises off the wall. I have cut at least 1/8" off the bottom for the time being.

Whether you remove it first or not, you might want to consider stick-on metal tiles from HD or Lowes. We installed some over the mirror backsplash in our MH and they've been great since about 2018. I don't think either plastic nor mirrors belong behind a stove.
