New Micro Winnie

Hi, just picked up a new Micro Minnie form the local dealer. I am just in the process of stocking the trailer up with pots, dishes, etc, in short everything.

The last trailer I had was a tent trailer and other than an ice box no built ins.

What a difference, can not believe it even came with a tv set and a/c and of course a full set of plumbing.

I am just in the process of reading the manuals for the appliances. Today was check out the burners and oven. One look at this unit and it is obvious that with the spark knob that the burners will ignite using the electronic spark. The oven however seems to need to be need the pilot light lit with a flame manually. The manual indicates the oven pilot light to be lit with a flame. That would of course indicate that the spark igniter works only on the burners. I tried checking with the dealer and was told to check tomorrow when the tech can answer my question. I would have phone Winnibego directly but was too late.

Anyone know if the spark igniter will start the oven burner?

Congratulation on your purchase. You made a very smart decision buying a Winnebago product. We have been part of the Winnebago family side 1985.
To your question, you should get a lighter that has a long tube to light the oven.
One suggestion if you are going to use oven for cooking and not storage, you should get something like a pizza stone because there is a hot spot in Center of oven that over over burner. I went to Lowe's and purchased a natural floor file and cut to fit.(unglazed tile). Happy trials

The spark ignitor only works on the cook top. The oven needs to be lit by hand. The pilot light will remain lit as long and you do not put the oven in the fully off position.

The 2015 Winnebago owner’s booklet says some have pilot lights..and some don’t...read oven manufacturer’s material. NOT helpful. Mine has a pilot light.

As W 69947 and blueridge say the pilot light is manual. I only light it when we plan to use the oven.

Good point about the hot spot. I learned about it the first time I put some hamburger rolls into it like I do my oven at home. Thankfully the smoke detector was covered at the time or the whole campground would have known. After that nothing goes in that isn't on a heavy duty baking sheet of dish.

W, is this all I need to look for at Lowe's? "I went to Lowe's and purchased a natural floor file and cut to fit.(unglazed tile)" Great idea. I've been using an iron skillet below whatever I'm baking.

I actually prefer the oven having a pilot light.

Congrats T.D. likewise, we just picked up a 2018 Micro Minnie 2106 FBS. Not too small Not too big. In general seems well built but we all know successful RVing depends on keeping ahead of problems. Check all fittings you can get your hands on. Apparently on the 1,100 miles drive home the Kitchen sink trap completely fell off. Would not have known that if I wasn't showing someone our new unit. Everything worked well on our shake down cruise but at home this was discovered. Imagine if we hadn't discovered it. Grey water everywhere. Not sure how they prepped your unit for delivery but it's pretty clear our dealer did not prep our's at all. Light dirt and saw dust throughout. Outside speakers only play the radio but not CDs ??? No manual included to figure it out. I'm learning not to sweat the small stuff. Just hope nothing becomes BIG stuff. PAT

Shakedown Trip

Well, I am going on my first trip with my 2018 Micro Minnie 2106DC.

A friend of mine recently bought a lakeshore lot with the intent to build a cabin, if not a home on the property. It is off the grid for now but that is not a problem.

I was surprised that it took as long for me to collect all the items needed for the RV. The last item was the generator, it just fits in height so that it does not hinder the tonneau cover. I thought I might have to get a canopy for my tow vehicle a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. Most generators I looked at were and inch or two taller and would not have fit under the box cover, so a canopy would have been needed. The generator has a 30 amp RV service as well as a few extra 20 amp and one other 30 amp plugs. A far cry from my tenting days for sure.

To date I have only hauled the trailer around town and few miles on the highway to get a feel for towing this trailer. My vehicle came with the tow package and with the class III trailer hitch pulling the trailer is no problem. I was surprised to see that this model of the Chevrolet Colorado has a towing rate of 7,000 pounds, so the Micro Minnie with its double axles is not taxing the truck at all.

Be careful with the payload. In most situations you will exceed that payload rating for the truck long before you will exceed the tow rating. Enjoy your trip.

Tr, D. Care to share what generator you bought? Also, canopy you mean a fiberglass shell remember that reduces your payload on the Colorado.

What brand of generator did you purchase? I purchased a Champion with remote staet, works great from bed of truck. I have a tonneau cover on her of f150 and fits well . I lock to bed of truck and no problem.

Quiet enough for me, truck cover muffled sound . My db meter shows 52dBA with truck cover and 59dBA on the ground.
Nice to have a.c. In 95+ temp and humidity at over 75%. My solar will not do that.

The generator I bought is a Firman P03603 generator. It is rated at 4550 starting watts and 3650 running watts. It has both remote and electric starting features. The unit just fits under the tonneau soft cover on my Chev Colorado.

I did look at a similar Champion and also a Yardsworks generator from Canadian Tire as well, but only the Firman would fit the truck bed with the box cover on, All three generators have the same decible rating so size was the only difference between the three. The Firman is 1 1/2 inches lower in height than the other two brands.

I do not want a fiberglass canopy, but would have had to replaced the tonneau cover had not the Firman been available. I did my first run with the trailer and there were no problems or surprises with the trailer. Other than the large decrease in my gas mileage.

New Gen Set

Sounds like you did good. If it works and meets your requirements then it was a perfect purchase. You will get a reply from some left coast people telling you that you should have gone with solar. Solar is good for limited uses and a gen set will run the AC.

Maiden Trip with Micro Minnie 2106DS

I just recently received pics of my first trip with my new Micro Minnie 2106DS. Other than having to keep my speed down to 50 mph it went without any problems. Both manuals, the truck and trailer manuals indicated that first use with a trailer to keep my speed down to 50 mph for the first 500 miles of pulling a trailer, the trailer manual also indicated to keep the speed down and also keep checking the lug nuts on the trailer as well.

That did make for a slow trip.

There was one surprise though, the gas mileage. Wow, I did not realize just how much a trailer would affect it. The Micro Minnie I recently bought was both shorter and narrower than some other trailers I had looked at. I am really glad I went with the Micro Minnie as the other trailers would have been worse for mileage as they would have had even more drag.
