Question New 2529RG - What ACs?

Just picked up a new '22 2529RG. When I started asking spec questions of the dealer it became apparent I would just have to look them up in the manual myself. So when I got home and started going through the package of all the manuals, I was surprised to find out there is not a manual for either AC. There's manuals for the furnace, water heater, range vent, tv, radio, solar charger, microwave, refrigerator. THere's even a manual for the guage on the propane tanks. But no manual for either AC unit.

The main AC unit is controlled by a thermostat. It is labeled Dometic Duo Therm, but no model number. The bedroom unit is manually controlled and also Dometic.

Mainly I'm looking for the power consumption of both units at normal temp and at high temp. Second I know that both are controlled by some magical energy management system to prevent both compressors from starting at the same time. What would be the startup consumption of the system?

Hi DakaMojo,
I looking at the specifications on the Winnebago web page (click <Floorplans><2529RG><Heating & Cooling Systems>) it states that Minnies with the 2nd A/C prep package made after 12-13-2021 come with a 50 amp shore power service. If that is the case for your 2529RG, then no worries about when the two air conditioners starting loads. The air conditioners are listed as 13.5K BTU low-profile roof A/C. I believe your air conditioners will draw about 25 amps each for a moment while they start, and then quickly drop to 16½ amps each steady-state while cooling. The outside air temperature would only affect cycle on time.
If you have only a 30 amp service, then yes, you will need a magic trick to make two air conditioners work.

Thanks for the info. Its a 30amp service so I guess it was manufactured before that date. It has a "Winnebago Integrated Energy Management System" built in. AS it was explained to me it makes sure that both compressors don't start at the same time, but both compressors can run at the same time. Also it is supposed to allow running the microwave while both compressors are running.

I'm trying to do an energy audit to try to figure out how much generator I need.

Hi again DakaMojo,
At least one of your air conditioners must have a voltage-drop sensor of some sort that would cut-out the compressor when you are simultaneously running the Microwave. You clearly will need a full 30 amp 120 VAC generator, so that would be a minimum of 3,600 watts. As Winnebago sells their 30 amp motorhomes with a 4,000 watt generator, that is what I suggest you buy. Let us know what you find, OK?

Do you have two separate ac units? Is one ducted and the other one not?
Is your TT 50 amp?

If you install micro air easy starts on both A/C compressors, things will get a lot easier for you. Since you’re in a 30amp TT, it would be hard to carry a generator larger than 3500w. But that should be enough to run both A/C with easy start. Maybe not enough to run microwave, but then, who does that when boondocking? A 3500w or two 2000w in parallel should work fine.

Stupid RV dealers... They don't have a clue about what they are selling. Salesperson was probably selling time shares last week.

Spoke with guy at Florida RV show today who does structural stuff to winnebagos today.
He said they will be going back to 50 amp service for dual Ac’s.
Because they have had a lot of complaints.
