Minnie TT projects with pics

I’d love to see everyone’s projects.
I’m a DIY guy from way back, always looking for ideas.

We are brand new to RV ownership but I’m sure I’ll have plenty of mods to do as we get more time under our belt.

Here are a couple things I’ve done so far.

Sewer hose storage, an idea I found on this site;

TPMS mount for under the dash. Milled a mounting puck out of StarBoard that has a sliding dovetailed mount.

There are several more projects in the que, as time and funds appear.

Let’s see what you all are up to

larrys, I'm a DIY'r myself & appreciate your posts! Will be picking up our 2019 RBDS next Tuesday, so don't have any projects to post on it yet. I did a similar sewer hose storage mod on last camper using 4" PVC sewer piping with screw on plugs on each end, mounted below unit as you did. Really like your approach much better than putting a wet hose in a steel rear bumper!

Any thoughts about a rear view camera on trailer.... I've got some doubts about how much help it would be but am open to others' experiences & ideas.

Thanks, Larry

I have a rear view cam on the camper but it’s not wireless. For now it’s mounted on the bumper until I have time to figure out how to get the wire to the top of the camper.
I don’t know how useful it will be yet since I’ve only pulled it to and from the storage yard a few times.

I added a rearview camera to mine, I have a Garmin GPS and they sell a camera that connects wirelessly. I picked up power from the center clearance light. I like it for parking the trailer in tight spots but don't generally use it when driving.

A second for more info. Most of the fence post setups I've seen use the regular fence caps and bungee chords. I like the more finished look of your cover.

Yes,it was a little more involved but I like the look of the deck hatch. The other end does have the standard post caps.
I used aluminum angle iron and ss bolts to attach to what I believe is the mounts for the rear stabilizer jacks. My unit has the auto leveling system mounted just behind the axle.

I also put bolts through the pipes to keep the hoses from sliding in too far. I left just enough room for a hose and elbow in each pipe.

I’ll get more pics this weekend when I go over to the storage yard.

My initial concern on the sewer hose storage was that it lowered your ground clearance. Your pictures indicate that it does not. Good job.

Lightbulb

Here are pics of the mounting as requested. The black brackets that I attached to were existing, but it would be easy to make those from angle.

Would like to see other projects.

Larry

Our second outing with the new camper went well. We spent the weekend at River Ranch, near Lake Wales Fl.
I spent some more time prior to the trip organizing the storage.

Made a rack for the hitch bars and tools (I hate that hitch)

Mounted one of my tanks as an air source and put hooks on the front wall for hose and cord storage.

Made a towel rack for the bathroom.

I also moved the stock TV to the bedroom and put a new one with articulating mount in the living area. Added an HDMI cable with adapter so I can watch video from my phone. Our granddaughter loved that!

I still want to make a rack for the cans of spray lube, cleaners etc on the back wall

Made a rack for my cans and bottles. The knobs are movable dividers to keep the stuff from rattling back and forth if the shelf isn’t full.

Another minor addition. She wanted something to keep the coffee cups from rattling around. It’s a bit of a waste of space, I think a simple lip on the edge of the shelf would have allowed more cup storage. But....she likes it so that’s all that matters.

I installed a wireless backup camera on our 2250DS by eRapta from Amazon. In the beginning the signal would briefly drop out. I attributed this to the use of the little rubber ducky antennas that came with it. I talked to eRapta and they sent me 2 new antennas. I bought some heavy duty magnets from Harbor freight. One of the antennas is mounted on a steel plate on top of the rear vent cover. The other one I mount on top of the truck. Since I installed these the signal never drops out. The best use that I have found for this system is that when I pass a big truck I can easily see when it is safe to pull back in front of him. Of course, I do like the system for backing into a camping spot.

So far I have used this system for about 3,000 miles. I never leave home without it when towing.

I installed a rack in the pass through to hold our fishing rods.

I have read several posts where the bed supports have broken in Minnies. The first mod that I did was to install 4 1x2 boards between the supports for the bed. Due to this preemptive strike we have had no problems.

One of the best mods that I did to our 2250DS was to replace the opaque door window with a Slim Shade from Camping World.

Great mods Bigbird! I may have to borrow the rod racks idea from you.

Glad you like it Larry. I have a few more upgrades. I installed a towel rack in the pass through that is really handy.
