In the upper right hand corner you can see the LED reading light I Installed for the Wife.
455Lark, Thanks for the idea of the window mural behind the bed. My wife saw it and said she wanted one too. We installed ours today.

Drop Ball Mount Size for 1706FB

New to the forum and need some help getting hitched. We are really excited about taking delivery on our new Micro Minnie 1706FB next week. The dealer is 300 miles away and I want to show up ready to hook it up to our 2500HD Silverado. It is a tall truck and I’m sure that I will need a drop ball mount, just not sure what size. I’m hoping that someone would know or be able to measure their 1706FB and let me know what the distance is from the ground to the bottom of the coupler hitch. The camper would need to be sitting level before it was measured. We can’t wait to let our camping adventures begin. Thanks

Me being new to towing a camper. I let
My dealer install a blue ox system. It's got every thing you need. Drop ball mount and sway/stabilizer bars. Whatever you call them I think it was around $500.

Willie, it is two parts, the window is 36" x 48". The simulated wood trim was cut to fill in the sides. Here is a link to additional information. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f101/winn...42788-302.html Post 4220

Problem with rusted dump valve cables

Just getting our 2017 1706FB ready for a 2 month trip through Canada's Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland returning through Maine, NH, VT and upstate New York.
Everything checked out ok until I tried to dump the grey tank after sanitizing the water system. Neither the black or grey valves would budge, tried penetrating oil etc but they were totally immobile.
I have had to make a temporary fix as I can't delay our departure date. I had to pull the cable sections out that bolt through the frame and cut the cable off at the termination that is rusted solid. The cables that slide in the plastic sheath are free and once I stripped the plastic sheath back to bare a few inches of steel cable, I was able to pull that with pliers which opened the dump valve. Got the ends back through the frame and used bicycle cable clamps to afix the original dump handles so we are back in business.
This is a terrible design as it has aluminum rods running through steel housing right behind the wheels where water is forced into the assembly promoting rust of the aluminum. My advice is to grease these well and frequently.

There should be a screw at the base of the antenna that when loosened will allow you to move the antenna down to be parallel to the roof.

NEW: extreme weather package

Does anyone know the details on the new Extreme Weather Package that Winnebago is now offering as an option on it's 2019 trailers? Heard it has extra insulation and heated tanks. Searched the Winnebago site, but couldn't find anything.
Thanks!

Hello all, will be picking up our 2019 2106DS this Friday. A few ideas in mind already are to add:
A plug strip under cabinet at sink/stove for a coffee pot or other appliances
A receiver hitch to rear bumper for a cargo carrier
PVC pipe to front underside storage area for fishing rod storage.
Any opinions and or recommendations for the initial break in?
Thanks
Jeff

Had not heard about this but I would like to know more. I need extreme insulation for the desert heat. I have been patiently waiting for the 2020 models to see whats new.

AC condensation

When we were camping a couple weeks ago the condensation from the AC dripped off the front rain gutter on the curb side. We had to dodge the water to get into the pass-through storage and couldn't leave anything on the ground (chairs, cooler, etc.) close to it. Is there a way to divert the water to the back gutter so that it's not dripping on us?

Thank you!

Raise the front of the trailer just slightly.

I would concur, when leveling the TT, bias the drain you want used by tilting the level to the back or front and port and starboard. For our TT its the drivers side rear of the TT tilted so its the low point. We also use a bucket to catch the run off for rinse water / emergency fire bucket

We do the same as there is nothing we will access back there other than the power chord when we leave.

First Long Distance trip, temperature reached 42C (107F) degrees.

I just returned from my first major excursion of the summer. My trailer is a MicroMinnie 2106DS and my tow vehicle is a 2017 Chev. Colorado with the V6 engine and factory installed towing package.

I spent a few days in Kamloops BC at a campground and the temperature reached 42C (107 F) degrees. The A/C unit worked very well handling the extreme heat.

I just finished calculating my gasoline expenditures and calculated that that my truck averaged 14.4 mpg (Imperial Gallons) for the trip. There was a lot of summer traffic and I was able to travel around the 60 mph mainly with a few highway sections which were signed for 70 mph. There were of course a few times when I ran into traffic backed up with slow vehicles and was only traveling around 45 mph but I am glad to report BC does have a lot of passing lanes so the slow traffic was passed once I reached one of the many passing lanes.

In Canada in the Northern portion of the province gasoline is priced around the $1.40 per litre or $6.35 per Imperial Gallon which is approx 20% larger in volume than the US gallon.

.
That is one compelling reason for me to consider a micro....I knew it's small size would cool quickly and easily with a standard AC. A bigger trailer might be a challenge for a 13.5K unit or even a 15K at 107.
Last summer we camped in a desert RV park in a 26 foot Forest River and we found ourselves huddled in the dinette under the dump valve till the sun went down.
