Mattress Recommendations

Ok, so the mattress in our 2529RG sucks, and we are on the hunt for something better. We actually have a full queen (60 x 80) in our trailer. What are you all currently using that you like?

On a side note. Why can't you just use a regular mattress? Is it due to weight and flexibility to access the storage under the bed?

You can use a regular mattress if you have a standard sized bed. Most RVs have an "rv-sized" mattress and that precludes using a regular mattress.

Beware buying a coil spring regular mattress you may find it impossible to get it inside your door and navigate the tight turns to reach your bedroom. A Foam Mattress will bend.

And, yes, mattress weight does make it difficult to lift the platform to reach underbed storage... unless you have suitable gas bed lift springs.

There are a number of mattress companies that specialize in RV Mattresses.

www.rvmattress.com

We got a "regular mattress" from www.leesa.com. They sell foam mattresses in a box - which is what these other companies do as well.

We have identical queen sized Tuft & Needle mattresses both on our motorhome and at home and love them:

We don't have any problems with our bed storage but it's easy to change your gas support struts to higher rated ones in terms of lbs as long as the other measurements are the same. They'll probably snap on to the existing brackets:

We have a new 1708FB with a 60x74 RV queen. The mattress that it came from the factory with was horribly lumpy and uncomfortable. After much research we invested in a Wilderness RV Mattress, Montana Hybrid RV mattress in plush. I'll admit initially it was money painful, however after the first sleep on it I strongly recommend it. My wife and I are very outdoor active folks all year round through all Colorado weather. There is nothing worse than getting up in the morning and hurting from the day before compounded by so-so sleep on a cheap mattress. Even after a full day wading in 34-degree water for most the day, I sleep like a baby on this and wake up refreshed and ready to do it for another day or two.

Gunny Rio, how long have you had it? Any noise from the coils? I guess that had been one of the biggest complaints on the hybrids is the coils start making noise after a while. I remember the old metal framed coil beds with a simple mattress on top! (Am I showing my age??)

No1Hunter, (LOL I thought I was No 1!!) anyway... We have had the mattress and trailer since just before Christmas 2021. So about 5-months and 5 weekend outings in it so far. No noise, no settling but it's also pretty new. If it's any consolation Wilderness has a 10yr warrantee (Pro rated).

We went to mattress firm an picked up a 10” full foam, one of the ones that comes compressed and rolled up for about $500 out the door.
Best matress I have right now. Going to get one for the house as well soon.

Those with foam mattresses, do they sleep warm/hot? I had a co-worker who bought one several years ago for his home claiming it was the best thing since sliced bread but got rid of it around 3 months later. He said it slept really hot, didn't breathe, and he could not get use to it. I see some now have things like cooling beads/gel which leads me to believe there is/was an issue with heat.

I’m a hot sleeper to begin with. My wife didn’t seem to have an issue with it.
However, it was pretty cold when we went on our first/ only trip. 40’s and 30’s at night.

we have several memory foam mattress at home and one in our camper. All are from different brands and styles (all foam vs hybrid). One thing in common is all have a top layer of gel memory foam to help keep it cooler. I am a hot sleeper and no issues with any of them. here's what we got for our camper.

it is a medium firmness, but is somewhat more firm than other mediums we have, which I like.

BTW, have anyone looked inside of the mattress that comes with the Micro Minnie? Ours was plastic honeycomb with a thin layer of quilting material over it. yikes.

My “Princess and the Pea” wife did a lot of researching, and had a custom one made form here. It’s more comfortable than our Temperpedic at home…

We just installed a 10” Novafoam mattress from Costco in our 2108DS, went on our first trip last week, what a difference.

We put the same mattress we have in our home bedroom, a sleep number. Because it’s what we use at home, we sleep great when on the road.

I bought a Wayfair Sleep™ 6" Medium Memory Foam Mattress in an RV size. Inexpensive, lightweight, cheap, and very comfortable.
