Re: reskinning... At best , you can probably cut a new skin to fit over the old one, inside the frame. See mt thread above about fixing the hinge side of our door. The existing inner and outer skins and foam core are laminated together into a sandwich which is stronger than the sum of its parts, like a Structural Insulated Panel.
The frame is glued on with silicone sealant to the foam and outer skin. I could only get the hinge side, some of the top, and the bottom off to cut out some foam to glue in my birch spline.
If you could get all of the inner skin off, you would have to replace it with something the same thickness, as the frame is a tight fit over the sandwich.
