I'm a little concerned since the unit is groaning when it moves. I do not want to use grease, because of its dirt attraction properties. So... what do you recommend?

Thanks,

ed

You might want to check out the info in this thread re: notes from an HWH seminar regarding slides and leveling jacks:

HWH Notes

I believe they say if you have the teflon guides, no lub is recommended. That said, before I read this particular info, I did spray my slide mechanisms with Super Lube dry lube spray. Everything seems to work fine and I have no rubbing noises.

Thanks for the link. Sorry it did not help, as I have screw type extender/retractors. I should have been more specific.

Someone else with the same system may respond. Also, you can email [email protected] and ask for advice.

Well if you have the Kwikee slides like most of the later model MH, I checked the docs and the Kwikee web site and there is no mention of any lubing. http://www.kwikee.com/Adocuments.html#slideouts

Let us know what you find out as I have never done anything to mine.

Thanks to smlranger! I followed his advise and this is the reply I received.

Mr. Isenberger,

Your slide mechanisms can be lubricated with white lithium grease on the
worm gear only. It is not easy to get to the access panel under the coach at
the base of the assembly. Start with the room in the extended position and
crawl under looking for the electric motor at the inboard side of the
assembly. You will find a plastic cover with push in keepers holding it in
place. Use a screwdriver or pry bar to remove the cover and spray the worm
gear with white lithium grease. You may want to have an authorized Winnebago
Industries dealer perform this for you.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at 800/537-1885.
