Freezing temps after dewinterize

Hello folks. I live in Tennessee and have a MM 2108fbs. I will be dewinterizing this coming Thursday (flushing out the antifreeze and undoing bypass etc). Sadly, it’s also supposed to drop to freezing or just below on Friday and Saturday nights. Daytime temps will be in the 50s so not bad. Because of my work schedule and other factors I have only Thursday to dedicate to dewinterize before we leave on our trip the next week. I’m going to keep trailer plugged in and heated overnight when the temps get to the freezing mark and it’s only for a couple of days. The forecast after looks good. What has been others’ experience with this? I’m thinking for two days of barely freezing overnight temps the trailer should be fine after dewinterize. My apologies to those who live up north and see me bitching about overnight temps of 30-32. Cheers.

It's never a worry if the freezing temps are not consistanly below freezing for over 24 hours. Your travel trailer is a fairly large thermal mass and it warms up to the 40 to 50 degrees you see during the day time and it takes as much as 30 hours in the 20's to get the areas around your TT cold enough to freeze water.

Also, if you run your RV heater (the propane furnace) you'll supply some warm air in the floor around your pipes and tanks.

Think about it. Even in July and August in upper elevations in the Rocky Mtn states the temps drop to freezing a great many nights and nobody runs out to winterize their RVs.

I’m near you climate-wise. For this reason, we do not put anti-freeze in fresh water tank. Others here in forum, in even colder climates have recommended just open low point drains and air pressure blow thru of all water devices one at a time. Pink in waste tanks and traps. We’ve gone with this, and no problems yet...keeping our fingers crossed. Still must sanitize fresh tank before tripping.

We get occasional freezes down here in Austin during the prime camping season. I drain everything after every trip and add antifreeze to the sink drain, shower drain, and toilet. If they forecast an extended cold-snap (like the one we had recently), I will blow the lines with air after draining. So far so good. Dewinterizing is dead simple in either case (fill with water and go camping).

Chris M, you said you were going to keep it plugged in and heated overnight so you should have no problems. You might want to open some of the cabinet doors in the kitchen and bathroom (or wherever there might be water lines) and don't leave the garden hose connected just for added insurance.
