Differences between 2021 and 2022 Micro Minnies

Hello,

New here -- considering buying a Micro Minnie. Apologies if this has been asked already -- I didn't see it in a search. I'm looking at a 2021 and a 2022 Micro Minnie 2100BH, both new, and wondering the difference between the two. Can someone tell me or point me to anything new or changes in 2022 from 2021? If both have the same packages and are new, what is the difference in resale value having 21 vs 22?

Thanks!
-JaNette

2022 has 190 watt solar panel vs. 100 watt on 2021.
The cabinet handles are different, rounded on the 2022 and rectangular on the 2021
There may be other differences but those are the two I’ve noticed. They seem very similar.
I ordered a 2022 2100bh. Picking it up in 3 weeks. The price was basically the same as the 2021. Though there are a few dealers selling leftover 2021’s at steep discounts recently, now that the year is almost over. I’ve seen them advertised on “clearance’ as low as $26,500.

Also the propane/electric refrigerator seems slightly more common in the 2021s vs. the 2022s but I’ve seen them in both model years, the 12v option seems more common in the 2022.

fridge

I have a late model 2021 and i have the propane / electric fridge. what's the advantage of the 12V? just being able to power it all the time? but doesnt it run down the battery? i do like having a propane option when im not plugged in

Theoretically yes, you should be able to power the 12v just off the solar/battery.
The 12v has a couple of cubic feet more interior space because it doesn’t have the big heat sink inside that the propane fridge has.
The 12v also has recessed handles instead of protruding handles.
I’d personally prefer the peace of mind of having propane as a backup since I mostly boondock, but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised by the 12v. We will see…

Before getting too deep into small er differences we might spot, it may be worthwhile to be aware of other factors as simply looking at a year and model doesn't take into account the options which may be on one RV versus another!

Most of us have looked at cars far more than Rv, so consider how often you can go to one dealer, find a make and model and then go other places and find the "exact same" make and model but at a different price due to small items that you may never notice.

It's easy to buy the lower price and then after really getting to know the product, you may find a few things missing! With twenty different models on the lot, it may be impossible for a dealer to spot one having some smaill item that is included on another.

How many of us have actually set down and READ all those features and options listed on the paper that comes in the big bag? If you've not checked the options before buying how do you know what you missed out on buying?
Did you get the model with no inverter, the 150 watt inverter or did you go big and get the 3000watt inverter?
See what I mean? It takes a very dedicated and careful shopper to know what you are getting!

One other difference with the latest 2022’s that are rolling off the line right now is they have the new silver color scheme instead of the white. The older 2022’s are still white.

There is no significant advantage to having a 12v compressor fridge. Only disadvantages that I can report. Sure the 12v is nice and big, and will cool down faster and get colder, but caveat emptor, it comes at a steep price. When I bought my mini over the phone, I didn’t know it was equipped with a compressor fridge. But I got a great deal, so I accepted it. It didn’t take long to figure out that it was going to cost a lot of time and money upgrading if I wanted to use this trailer for its intended purpose: boondocking. A single solar panel and a single 100ah AGM would be sufficient to boondock with an absorption fridge. With a compressor fridge you’re gonna average 50ah daily consumption just for the fridge. That means you’ve got to buy LiFePo4 and a charger to suit it. While you’re at it, spend 60 hours or so Re-wiring your trailer. IDK if WBGO is offering absorption fridge as a no-cost option anymore. You may have to pay a couple thousand more to get one. Of course, in the long run, I’ll probably be happier with the compressor fridge and will forget all about extra money I had to spend to make it a suitable boondocking platform.

Yes, this. Mid-year upgrades have happened the last two years with the Micro Minnies, so going by the year alone is not enough. These upgrades are not announced, I assume to make it easier for dealers to sell off old stock.

Another thing to look out for is substitutions. Component shortages may make this necessary to keep the assembly lines rolling. Some substitutions may be equivalent, but some may be cheaper product. I don't know if Winnebago is doing this but I wouldn't be surprised if it's common these days in RV builds.

If you're shopping and looking at more than one of a model, pay attention to the components installed.

I don't think it was Winnebago, but I heard about one entire line up of RVs coming from one manufacturer that has had problems getting USB ports. So, all of their RVs that previously had as many as 6 USB ports scattered throughout the rig are now being shipped with none right now.

That kind of thing is super hard to be aware of and probably not even listed on a features list. If it's not in the brochure or other official publication or video then the manufacturer is not responsible to supply the missing feature.

Wife wanted the couch; so that is what we got. I noticed that was a $900 option on the Winnebago web site.

Just picked up my new Micro Minnie 2225RL that was manufactured the last week in Oct 2021. Several differences from the earlier models that I'd seen with the biggest being the 190 watt solar panel and the totally redesigned front fiberglass nose cap. You'll know the difference the minute you see it as it's markedly different from the design that's been around for quite a few years now. But overall would have to say I'm very pleased with my new unit. Seems well built with no noticeable building flaws - so far. I did swap out the double mattress that came with it for a King Koil pillow top, but have to admit the quality of the one that came with it is of far better quality than what I've seen in the past. If not for a bad shoulder, I probably could have lived with the stock model.

Nice looking campground. Love the way the concrete pad extends out to the area where there is typically a picnic table, keeps from tracking sand into the RV.

Do you mind recommending which RV campgrounds you'd recommend down there?

Thanks.

The ones pictured (and I love them)are:

Twin Peaks Campground - Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (you cannot beat this deal!)
Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay - brand new - not cheap but the nicest RV park ever and amazing amenities
Hobson Beach, Ventura County Park - the pic right on the water, reservable

others highly recommended:

Flying Flags Resort (Buellton, CA)
Wahweap Campground, Lake Powell National Recreation Area
Escalante RV and Cabins and RV Park, Escalante (Grand Staircase area - Utah)
Orange Grove RV Park - Bakersfield, CA (not a destination but great for traveling)
Pinnacles National Park Campground, Paicines CA
Lodgepole Campground Sequoia National Park
