Looking for a cover for my Drop 1780, manufacturers recommend buying a cover for a r-pod front door. I'm buying this online so I want it to fit first time. can't find anything made for winnie drops? Also, is there any info from Winnebago on winterizing specific units/models, can't find anything on there web site?
I just got a quote from CalMarkcovers.com for a custom made sunbrella cover for my 1790. $600. Has a 6 year warranty. Will fit. Bit expensive. Had a sunbrella cover for a boat, very good stuff.
Greg--I don't know about the cover, but winterizing would pretty much be the same for any RV. Find the low point drains, either blow out the lines or use the pink antifreeze, etc. If you search for "winterizing" you'll find plenty of info.
I found a cover called PermaPro, it's made for a R-Pod 178. It's the same shape and length as my Drop 1780. ($154.00 on Amazon). They claim a limited lifetime warranty. Any how, I haven't taken it out of it's bag yet, but think it will fit fine. The biggest thing was making sure the door was in the right place.
As far as winterizing, still looking for low point drains, I found the W/H bypass and the water pump syphon.
Look under the trailer for two PEX pipes coming through the floor. These should be your low point drains and the valves will be above them inside the trailer.
One commonly over looked item during winterizing is the pump filter housing. It is a clear cup with a screen inside on the input side of the pump. If you are not going to use antifreeze unscrew it and empty the cup. It is also a good to time rinse the screen off.
Thanks, I'll look for them tomorrow, I am going to use antifreeze. The filter housing was loose the first time we went camping. No water pressure, all kinds of noise. Should I clean it before winterizing, or in the spring when I de-winterize.
Since you are using antifreeze I would just look at the filter cup and if it doesn't look dirty not worry about it. If you feel like cleaning it either time would work.
Heading to winterize now, Quick question, do I need to close the pump valve from the fresh water tank, when I open the syphon valve? I can't remember if I did this in the past.
Yes. Close the valve between the tank and pump then open the valve to the antifreeze line. When done with the antifreeze close its valve to keep the antifreeze from backing out.
Already done! Took 15 min. and 1 gal of antifreeze. I had done this on my Jayco, but the pump and all of the valves were in a tiny cubby, very hard to reach. This was a piece of cake!
Thanks much for the info.
