Converter not working

I have a 2018 Minnie drop.. I got down to Florida and the converter is not working.. I have purchased a new battery. Is there anything I can do to trouble shot it or do I just need to buy a new one?

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it? I'm not familiar with the Drop. Does it have a battery switch in the pass through? Is it on? Are your lights working? How do you know that the converter is not working?

There is a charging mother board at the bottom of your converter. That may be bad. I have an 8955-MBA (mother board) from my new 1708FB. It's really brand new. I upgraded my TT to BattleBorn Lithium Ions and needed to upgrade the converter motherboard. Check your converter part number and if it's the same as mine you can have this one - I wont be using it and its just sitting in a box.

It was working when I got to Florida..My radio was completed dead. We changed the fuse on the radio.. then the battery was going dead.. i did find that 2 40 amp fuses on the fuse panel was burned out so i changed them.. I also bought a new battery. now if I do not have a trickle charger on, the battery is dead over night.. with the charger on the battery, all the 12 volt lights and such work
I did stay in a campground on the way down from MN that was only 50 amp.. He had a converter cord for 50 to 30 amps and I did use that.. maybe it was not good and it blew things….

Double check your break away (brake) switch has not been pulled out by accident.

It will drain the battery quickly and have similar symptoms

There’s a 3ft cord that you normally put around the hitch connected to a switch. if you were to pull that cord away from the trailer the trailer brakes engage.
it will draw current and sill suck your battery dry if it’s missing or unplugged as brakes are engaged

The brake switch would certainly support some of BonnieH's issues. The only aspect I'm struggling with are the two 40-Amp fuses blowing out. That leads me to think the problem may be deeper. BonnieH the converter part number should be located on the inside front panel. Open the front cover to expose the fuses and the part number label should be on the left.

The two 40 amp fuses blowing sounds like the battery possibly being connected backwards or a solid short circuit on the DC system.

So a friend cam over and we checked the break away switch. I think that was not tight. Cuz we pulled it out and put it back in. It fit closer so was probably part of 5he problem. I also did not have the battery nuts tight on the battery. He explained why and we tighten them so far after 8 hours the battery is good.. I did pull out the converter and tested what I thought was the fuse on it as I saw on a YouTube video and it tested good… maybe loose battery caused it? Thank you for all the help and I shall keep monitoring the battery.. I still wonder about the fuses……I will check the Part number on the converter

If I understand correctly, the switch was activated (pulled out). The break-away switch should only activate if your trailer disconnects from your tow vehicle. The cable should be slack, not tight. If it's too tight, it can accidentally activate on turns, etc. If you've driven with it activated you should have your brakes checked to see if they need servicing due to adverse wear.

The cable should be a bit longer than your break-away chains. One way to keep it from getting caught up on something is to weave it through the links of one of your chains with enough slack to connect to the switch.
