I have a truck where with the OEM brake shoes (it has drum rears) the shoes would seize to the drum if it had been raining the last time I drove it. That could happen over a matter of 8 hours! Once it happened while I was at work and parked in an underground parking garage. I had a heck of a time getting them unstuck because the parking garage surface was too slick. Switching to a different shoe fixed the problem.
The difference is your trailer would not have the brakes applied when parked, although it would have been parked for much longer.
