Hi Bruceb
The Silverado 1500 diesel has a payload of just over 1,900#. The 4x4 version probably 100# or so less. With that much payload, adding 70# to the tongue should have no noticeable effect on towability. The caveat, of course is how you load the truck and trailer. It’s always best that you CAT scale the truck and trailer separately, both loaded for travel, then add the weight of any occupants, pets or gear that weren’t in the truck when you scaled it. I’ve found that when I first loaded up my rig, I was overweight on rear GAWR. But my truck has only 1,340# payload. To solve the problem, I just put the heavy stuff in the pass thru and mostly light stuff in the truck bed, plus our bikes mounted on crossbars. This rearrangement got us under rear GAWR buy added weight to the tongue. So now we’ve got 600# on the tongue, and some of that weight gets move to the truck front axle thanks to the WDH. With 1/2 tank fresh water, the trailer now actually tows better. I think Micro Minnie’s like having at least 12% of GVWR on the tongue. You should be golden with two GCs on the tongue unless you’re carrying a s***load of gear in the bed.
