Awning lights not working

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my awning lights working. I bought my Winnie travel trailer not even a year ago and within six months the awning lights went out. As we purchased it at a Winnebago dealer in another state, no dealer in our area will even look at it even though it is under warranty. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced an awning light problem and how you solved it.

If it's something you really want fixed, Lynn... I'd buy a cheap meter at Harbor Freight and watch a few youtube videos on how to use it ...or, find some guy who installs car stereos. He'd find the problem in a second.

I'd bet dealers have trouble collecting on warranty claims themselves (atop just the cost of filing the correct paperwork and waiting for reimbursement) which means they may often work for nothing ...even less for you.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will give it a try.

For the awning LEDs on my camper, there are two wires that come out of the right side of the strip and go into the camper. As mentioned, I would get an electrical tester and make sure the red wire is hot whe the awning light switch is on. Also make sure that the black is grounding. If it is, then check how it’s attached to the strip. If that looks good then it may be your strip. The switch could be bad if if there’s no power going to the strip when on, or a break in the wire or loose connection.

I had problems with my awning lights on my 24J during my first year. Every third light was out - fixed under warranty. Put in a call to Winnebago, perhaps they will ship you a new string of lights or arrange for a dealer to fix them. I've not been to a dealer that will turn down warranty work, just make an appointment for the repair and when you get there let them know it's under warranty.

Winnebago might also authorize a mobile RV repair person to handle the warranty work. Unlike dealers who can get by, although I think it is bad business, with turning away folks the mobile folks depend upon a wide range of customers.

Those awning LED lights attract every bug in 10 acres. I rarely use mine. However, if they didn't work, it would bother me too.

I went semi old school. Got some LED lights from Lowes that look like regular light bulbs. It allows you to change the colors of them and I've found that the orange tends to not attract the bugs as bad and still provides plenty of light outside.
