2108DS/Generator

Just got our 2020 2108DS and are shopping for generators. We do a lot of primitive camping. We were pretty much set on the Yamaha EF 2200is but then friend suggested we look at the WEN 2250. Does anybody have any experience with either? There are numerous youtube videos on Yamaha but none that I can find on the WEN. Big difference in price but you get what you pay for.

I have a EF3000isb, and it's been trouble free for 9.5 years of use, but it's used for power outages and thus only has under 100 hours on it. It's also set up for tri-fuel, so fuel fouling has not been an issue.

I'm in the market too for my 2106DS, but I'm probably going to want to go with something in the 1500-2000 range that can work in parallel to run the AC. If the 2200is was like my 3000isb it would probably be sufficient, because that uses the starting battery for extra current during motor startup. I wish I could find something like that because I think a 2200 would be enough otherwise.

We’ve had an EF2200 for close to 7yrs. We’ve never had problems with the generator, and it’s quiet.

If you are hoping to run your A/C with it though, you’ll want to get a micro air easy start.

The EF2200 is a new model, it has the 79cc engine same as they used in the EF2000 models. no idea why they stuck with the 79cc on the new model.

I’d look at the EF2400 and skip the 2200, although little heavier it will leave you with enough room you can probably get away with a single unit 99% of the time. the EF2400ISHC was designed in part to start an RV 13500 Airco and is also much quieter.

I tried the two generator in parallel route for a while
but 2x noise and just carrying stuff around made me move to a single unit instead.

WEN has good reviews also but would buy only at a big box store for warranty purposes as there is not a big dealer network for it.

Most of the 79cc engines need to turn at 4500RPM to make 2000w of power and you’re into 65db noise with most of them running a load.
