2022 Micro Minnie FLX 2108DS Murphy Bed?

Hello-
I thought I had read that with the “new” 2022 2108ds the Murphy bed closed to a flush vertical position. Ours does not. It does not appear to be due to the bulk of bedding and mattress preventing it from closing but rather the struts are too short or the mounting fixtures are mispositioned.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-steve

Our 2021 2108ds has a two piece foam mattress designed to collapse a bit so the bed can be stored upright. If your mattress is split in the middle, it should store upright. That being said, one of our two gas struts froze up the first time we used it and busted its bracket. Could be your strut brackets are in the wrong position. Post a photo, and we should be able to tell you.

Thanks for your response. I’ve attached a couple of photos. I included the top of bed photo to show how far it closes. I had seen your post about the strut issue, our struts appear to be fine, but anyone who sees the bed up tends to want to push it closed. And, again, after seeing your issue and knowing our struts are fully extended, pushing the bed is going to rip out a bracket, I suspect.

Anyway, thoughts appreciated.

Steve,
Your struts appear to be in the exact same position as ours.
I’ve been too lazy to replace the broken strut, as the Murphy bed operates fine with just one strut.

Could it be that something is obstructing the mattress behind the platform, or could it be that your struts are not completely sealed (valves closed). Try removing all bedding, then see if will fold all the way up. Letting the lower half foam mattress drop behind the upper half also may help, as there’s a cavity back there they fit into.

Any update on the Murphy bed closing, just purchased a 2022 2108DS FLX and the bed does not close like your picture, on first thought appears like the struts are the wrong length or the hinges used are incorrect

Hello Cartex1-
I think you are saying yours also does not close to a flush vertical position?
I think we have a similar situation and, I also think the struts are too short. They are clearly fully extended, if the bed is pushed at the top the bed will move and there is play at the strut pivot points. Further pushing would put stress on the pivots. (probably not a good thing).
You mentioned bed hinges. I suppose that could be a possibility. Or maybe you meant the strut pivots?
I looked at a couple of dealer videos online that clearly show the bed in a flush and vertical position. So, I suspect our "early" deliveries don't incorporate whatever changes to the design achieved the "flush and vertical". It doesn't bother us enough for me to "Hobbyshop" a "fix". Nor to call WOI Warranty (574 825-8052). But if somebody does, and finds an answer. Please post. :-)

thanks,
-steve

the gas struts are mounted to far forward (towards the door). I disconnected the lower strut on each side of the bed. Then closed the bed and used a piece of rubber wedged in at the top to keep the bed vertical. I the reattached the struts. In my case they were moved forward 11/4" on each side. The bed closes fine now. A little hint if you want to make sure the bed is absolutely plum. Push the bed about 1/4" pass plumb before attaching the struts. The upper mechanism on the bed has about a 1/4" play back towards the front when you take the foam wedged at the top out. Once the bed in plumb, there is also plenty of room to add a safety latch is you want to travel with the bed up and not worry.
