I'm a new owner of a 2000 29' Minnie Winnie. I started winterizing it today and all went well till I got to the part were I added the pink anti-freeze. I switch from the tank to the hose but the pump will not suck up the pink stuff. I really read all the directions and I am mechanically incline. It's like the pump lost prime. The motor runs but nothing happens. Any ideas?
Do you have a valve on the end of the siphon hose (the end closest to the pump ) ? V11 in the photo, might check and see which way the valve is turned. Also did you remove the cap from the end of the hose that sticks in the jug ? I forgot to remove mine one time...
Thank you for the input but yes to both. I took the end cap off and I have the valve pointing up to the syphon hose. I can see that it would be easy to forget the cap.
Try opening up both sink faucets. I had the same issue with my Shurflo pump then I turned on both kitchen and bathroom faucets and it started to draw anti freeze
Well problem fixed. Opening kitchen and bath faucets still didn't work. Ended up putting a second tube in the bottle of anti-freeze and sealing the top with plumbers putty. Blow in the second tub and pink stuff flows. Problem solved. All winterized.
Just to clarify......applying air pressure to the pink bottle supplying anti freeze to the pump which apparently lost prime solved the problem?
For myself I only use the pink stuff in the “P” traps of the sinks and shower. I use compressed air to blow out all water lines both hot and cold then leave the drain valves open including the water heater. Come spring I don’t have to flush the lines to remove the the pink anti freeze.
Yes, positive air pressure to the pink bottle resulted in the line to the pump filling and priming the pump. I agree compressed air is a good way to clear the lines but I don't have ready access to a portable compressor and I keep my motor home at a storage lot.
