Winter camping

My first encounter with unexpected freezing temps was on a trip returning home to Arkansas after visiting relatives in Virginia. The temp dropped well below freezing the night on an overnight stay in a KOA. It was there that I found out that hot water freezes before cold water. Luckily there was no damage to the water lines.I was driving a 25 foot Gulf Stream.
We now own a Navion and have camped out in the winter in below freezing weather (not extreme cold) with the tank heater switch on and a work light with a 75 watt bulb placed in the water inlet compartment. A small electric heater placed in the front of the vehicle keeps the under cabinet water lines from freezing.
We are planning a Thanksgiving trip to visit relatives in Nebraska in a couple of weeks.
