Winnie Minnie/Spirit 22M
Can the two mattress sections be flip-flopped, i.e. can the head section with the hand holds be placed at the foot of the bed?
How thick is the wood "floor" of the wardrobe? Is it simply 1/4" luan?
Are these units open underneath, or is there a covering of Cloroplast covering the entire underbelly?
Related question. How hard is it to inspect and lubricate the dump valve cables?
I'm considering a 2018 Jayco 22J and 2018 Winnebago 22M. One sticking point on the 22M, that I'm not yet comfortable with, are the long cables that operate the dump valves.
Of course another major sticking point is the E350 chassis under the 22M. Jayco only uses the E450 chassis, no matter what length the MH is.
Anyone know what the general CCC is on a 22M. If it is approaching 2K, all would be good. If it's in the 1200# neighborhood, then it would be a deal killer.
Unfortunately ordering one on the E450 chassis is not an option. Too many $$$ involved.
There is much to like about the 22M. I'm buying the Winnebago hype about the interlocking joints used to construct the house portion of the MH. Also things like the location of something simple like the water pump. Straight forward on the 22M. Horride location on the Jayco 22J.
But from what I can tell, on the 2018 model 22M. at least, the warwe heater is only propane, no electric option.
But the 22M does have a propane nearly twice as large as the Jayco.

That's a lot of questions packed into one post...see answers in quoted message below. I preceded my answers with ***

*** You could but why? The foot section is larger than the head section. If you swap them, you will be moving the larger piece to bring slide in. Also, you would have a larger section balanced on top of larger section with slide in. We've had no issues using them as designed.
How thick is the wood "floor" of the wardrobe? Is it simply 1/4" luan?
*** Not sure but we've put some heavy bags in outs without issue. I'd guess it is luan.
Are these units open underneath, or is there a covering of Cloroplast covering the entire underbelly?
*** Yes, open.
Related question. How hard is it to inspect and lubricate the dump valve cables?
*** I've lubed the dump valves and handles. I've thought one of those bicycle cable lube tools to do cables.
I'm considering a 2018 Jayco 22J and 2018 Winnebago 22M. One sticking point on the 22M, that I'm not yet comfortable with, are the long cables that operate the dump valves.
*** I'm not a fan of them either but an RV is all about compromises and having cable operated dump valves was one of them. So far (knock on wood), they've worked fine.
Of course another major sticking point is the E350 chassis under the 22M. Jayco only uses the E450 chassis, no matter what length the MH is.

*** I'll have to look. I don't recall it seeming excessively low to be concerned about. We also pull a 3K lb boat and E350 handles it fine.

*** Another compromise...Our first RV, a 5'er, had gas/electric WH and I like that. Our second RV, a 32' class C, and the 22M are gas only.
But the 22M does have a propane nearly twice as large as the Jayco.
*** Also, the waste tanks are large compared to the MW 22R...not sure about Jayco models.

Thanks. That low CCC pretty much rules out a E350 based 22M. Too bad. I was really warming up to a 22M.
If I could find a 22M built on an E450 chassis, in the wild, I'd be quite interested.

I’m a lucky owner of a 22m on a E450 platform. 2018 model I’ve had since February. Looked hard at the Jayco when buying, but the E450 Winnie was hands down better. The tank dump cable extensions freaked me out a bit at first, but they operate smoothly. 4 trips so far, including towing the boat without issues or regrets. Best small mh on the market.

On this point about the long cables, it does seem to be a point to watch a bit more than some things and one way to help them last longer is to lube them before we even think they need it! I might think some form of spray like silicone, lithium or even the ever popular WD-40 might be good to spray on the cable and work it back and forth in hopes it might work it's way further down the cable.
