Winnie Aspect Water Pump Problem

Got the Winnie out of winter hybernation and filled the water tanks. Tested whether the water had reentered the hot water heater by turning on the water pump and opening the hot water side of the sink. It sputtered a few times but nothing came out. At that point my wife ran out from the house saying that water was pouring from the bottom of the MH. I checked to verify that the dump valves were all closed and they were. Do I have a busted water pump?

Lets back up here a minute.
Year and model Aspect ????
Did you fill fresh water tank? Maybe over filling and over flow tube is draining water.

Do you have city water connection hooked up and in tank fill valve in wrong position.

Doubet it would be the water pump leaking. More likely a fitting or water line.

On my Aspect pump and tank are under the bed.

I have a 2008 Aspect 29H.

Sorry for the delayed response. Was Camping! We have a 2005 26' Aspect. Yes, I had just filled the water tank to overfill. Based on what you've said, I apparently overfilled the tank and the pump is dumping some of that water out. Right?

Over filling is the only way you know tank is full if your out side. I turn water off when tank starts to over flow.
No your pump will not pump off the extra water.

So on your trip did your water system work OK?

THe sputtering you heard was simply he air coming out of the water tank. Once tank is full that would stop.

I filled the tank full. I then followed the Winnie owner's manual to verify that water was in the HWH before turning on the water heater. The instructions said to turn on the hot water tap and then the pump to see if water flowed out the hot side of the faucet. I left the pump on for about 5 minutes but only air and a sporadic flow of water came out. At that point my wife informed me that water was pulsating out from under the MH at the location where the main tank drain is located. The water flow stopped when I turned the pump off. I checked the water pump (under the bed), and there was no water inside the MH itself. A real mystery.

It does take a little while for the HWH to fill. Was the by pass valve in wrong position?

Did you ever get the HHW to fill for your last trip?
Did you turn tank fill valve back to city water from tank fill position?
You got me wondering now.

Tom: Never had it in tank fill position. Filled the tank from the port on opposite side of rig. Just finished 4 day trip. Water heater worked fine on city sourced water. I'm gonna bring rig over to house tomorrow and take a closer look. Thanks for your input

Tom:

Brought the MH to the house as planned and before trying the water pump again, I drained out about 10 gallons of water. The pump worked fine producing almost instant results. Before, when I was having no luck getting a flow out of the faucet, the pump was running but not smoothly. My guess is that overfilling the tank may have had some negative impact on the running of the pump. Also, thanks for leading me to the Aspect-Cambria Yahoo group. I signed up on Saturday

Ok your welcome. You could have been air bound when you filled the tank. Hope all works well now.

No PM from you. Indians must have stopped the carrier at the pass again.
