Check out the inverter, earlier models used a 300 watt, not in business anymore, later models used a Xantrax 1000 watt. Upgrade is expensive.

Earlier models used the shore power line to manually plug into the generator receptacle located in the LR compartment. Later models have an electronic TR switch that automatically switches to generator power after a time delay to allow the generation to come up to power before switching.

Not a difficult thing to upgrade. Less than $300 on Amazon.

Xantrex Freedom 2000 #817-2000 is what was installed in my Navion that was assembled in October of 2020. This sells for $595 or you can get the latest model the #817-2000-21 for $923.

Installing it may be quite difficult as Winnebago chose to mount it on the ceiling of the basement compartment and they used only enough wire to have in backwards so the power cord runs behind the unit. This makes it impossible to use the inverter display as it is upside down when viewed from inside the compartment. You will want the Xantrex remote display if there is not a combatible one already installed.

Inverter 300W to Xantrex 1000W Upgrade

To make the upgrade, the cabinetry in the 24M had to be changed, the access hole had to be enlarged and new trim around the hole. In addition, the battery cables had to replaced to accommodate the increased current requirement. Xantrex has a couple of different configurations for the 1000W unit, be sure to get the one with a built in transfer switch (in addition to the chassis change over) so when the generator or shore power is used; the battery power to the inverter is disconnected.
