Spare tire holder

Looking for support. Would like to install spare tire carrier on my class c m
Winnie Winnie 22m. Anyone out there who have done this. There appear to be two possibilities with rear bumper or underneath. There appears to be a space under for spare between frame rails. Can this be a DIY job. Thanks Barry

I used a pickup spare tire winch. It does take a little welding to make it all work.

Factory installed

Herbeam, Thanks for responding but yours was factory installed. I am looking for a DIY solution that will not break the bank. Barry

I installed a BAL Retract-A-Spare Tire Mount between the frame rails of our Micro Minnie. The bottom of the tire is a couple inches higher than the bottom of the axels.

I confess I could only imagine myself scraping the under-mount spare on something, which makes the bumper mount seem a lot safer. The $140 vs $40 difference didn't make ether seem that painful to me.
I know my class A is heavier than a Class C, but you can make a good case for making sure your motorhome policy covers roadside service. There's a reason they don't come with a spare, let alone a jack and tire wrench.

I use two heavy-duty ratchet straps. I was able to get the straps to slip between the frame and the floor. Not the easiest to get the tire in and out, but holds very well and was super cheap!
