Shorter Table Posts

In our 2021 View 24D, the dinette table is an inch or two too high and the second table is several inches too high - to use for dining or with computers.

Has anyone purchased replacement table posts to shorten the tables and bring them down to a more usable height?

Or replace the stock posts with adjustable height posts?

After researching this further...

Compared to the dinette table, the secondary pedestal table is about 1" higher.

The dinette table is also about 1" higher than an ergonomic level for using a laptop (compared to sitting at a desk).

The pedestal table post is a Springfield Marine 2-1/4" diameter by 29-1/4" long tapered post. They quote this as a 28" post (subtracting the amount of post that is in the floor mount).

Ideally, we'd like a 26" post (2 inches shorter than the stock post). Unfortunately, they only make 25" or 27" posts. So we're going to order both - and then use the post that places the pedestal table at the height that works best for use on the 24D's sofa and the rotated cab seats.

Springfield Marine doesn't sell directly to the public. They referred me to Cascade Depot, who sells to consumers.

Here are the links for the 27" post and 25" post we ordered.

I know you've already ordered the new posts, but couldn't the old ones just be cut down to the height you desired? It's just aluminum hollow tube.

The post is tapered at both ends, going into tapered fittings in the floor and underside of the table.

Cutting down either end of the post could impact how it goes into the fitting.

The cost of the posts were around $25 each - and much easier to get posts of several heights than getting the original post cut down - and then risk it not working.

Have a carpentry shop with a big lathe turn you a wooden post of appropriate diameter and the appropriate tapers.

Have decided to use the 25" post - the pedestal table is now low enough to comfortably use for dining or with a laptop, while being high enough not to make it difficult to sit down at the table.

The 25" post from Cascade Depot matches what came with the View, except it is polished instead of anodized - and it fits into the storage hooks in the wardrobe.

Based on the height improvement on the pedestal table, we'll look at reducing the height of the dinette by an inch or two.

We're having the same discussion about the height of the post. We too wanted the post to be 26". What is the measurement from end to end on the 25" post. I'm getting ready to order and I don't need both. Thanks for your help. We're also thinking of making the table top smaller because it takes up to much room between the front seats. Have you resize the table top?

The 25" post should be 25" - measured from end-to-end.

Did you leave the table top the same size? If so how does that work on between the two front seats?

We are still using the stock table top - which works with the sofa and with the chassis seats when they are rotated.

We haven't tried using a table with the seats facing forward.
