Problem leveling my 08 outlook

Hi all, i have a 08 outlook 31c and when i went to level it i noticed a problem...anywhere i put the level it reads different. I first tried the floor in mid vehicle and didnt seem rite, then put it on the counter and that read totally different...ugh...then figured i would read in the bottom of the fridge and that read different as well.
I bought the levelmate pro to help me with leveling but need to level unit to install it. Problem is whats level?

Yeah, that’s a tough one, since the counter tops, refrigerator, or even floor at different points will give you various readings.

In order to set my rig level, for the Level Mate Pro, I used a large bubble level, and a pinball. The pinball actually works the best (any smooth steel or glass ball will do), because what you really want to know, is not what surfaces in the coach are level, but the overall feeling of the coach.

So if the ball is rolling in any one direction dramatically, that provides you with a clue as to where levels is, and I might add, if the ball is chasing it’s way across the floor, you’re probably going to be feeling the coach as uneven.

Because really what you’re trying to do is get the coach level to within a half an inch while you’re inside , so that you don’t feel dizzy when walking around. The human body is pretty sensitive to uneven surfaces and tilt.

I think the best way to set a zero level calibration would be at a weigh station, IMHO.

Now that I have are zero point calibration set I can get it within a quarter inch on all angles and it’s amazing how fast you can set up your rig with the LevelMatePRO and in our rig, the Lippert jack system.

Sounds just like my '07 31C, Dave. I level the fridge with a pretty good quality spirit level. It's the one item that likes to be level ...... more than any other.

Stay safe.

Hi Dave, I have a 08 Access 31c (twin to your outlook). I purchased two 3 1/2 inch bubble levels. I mounted one on the inside of the door next to the fridge, this way when I open that upper cabinet door it gives me the side to side level. For the front to back level, I use the other one (which is not securely mounted) and place it on the counter next to the fridge and below the above mention cabinet door. I redid the coach about 1 1/2 years ago and redid the counters and etc. When I did this, I made sure that I was on level ground so that when I place these two levels, they would be level to the ground. Hope this helps. The 31 with the long wheelbase can sometimes be a bear to level with a auto leveling system (which I don't have).

You RV does not have to be perfectly level for the fridge to operate properly.

As long as the RV is level enough for you to be comfortable then everything in fine.

I would level up your RV to what the level shows when inside the fridge. Then check and note what the level shows on an easy to access place, such as on a counter top.

Then whenever you level your RV just level it to within 1/4 to 1/2 bubble off of level as measured on the counter top.

We find it is a case of learning what bothers you the most and from there remembering you are "roughing it"!
So which is more important to you, the cooking surface so grease in a pan lies level, the eating surface, where you set to watch TV or where you sleep?
We find most of that is no big question but do want the bed to have the head near or slightly higher than the foot and not slanted to the side very much. The rest is just being fussy and we don't let it worry us.
We've never had trouble with the frig being off if we are okay with a tilt but we do like for the shower to drain.

I use the camper leveling app on my phone. I generally lace it on the floor behind the seats to get an idea. If all looks good I place the phone on the dinette table, then the counter by the sink, then open the freezer and check there. After I am reasonably sure we are level the boss DW checks the cabinet doors to see if they stay in place when opened. If they do we are golden, if not I will generally hear about it several times before we move to the next location.

I had the same issues with an 06 Outlook. At home, I put the level in the freezer and leveled the coach. Then I found a spot on the floor that was level and used that spot when I was leveling. I also found a spot on the counter and a couple of places. Never had another issue. Good Luck

i put 2 small bubble levels one fore/aft and other left/right on refrigerator after determining level on inside. Works for us, also have the same setup by front door, since the auto levelers dont. Manually adjust to the levels and all is fine

A lot of valuable responses for how to get the OP’s refrigerator level, but I think his main question was...

“I bought the levelmate pro to help me with leveling but need to level unit to install it. Problem is whats level?”
