Navion - Itasca or Winnebago?

I was loooking at photos on the dealer's website where I bought my 2016 Itasca Navion this past July and noticed a couple of Navions are labeled "Winnebago" across the front cap. This dealer is technically not a Winnebago dealer. There is already anothe W'bago dealer in the area, so they've always been an Itasca dealer.

These new Navions branded as Winnebago seems confusing. Yes, I know there are a couple of small "Winnebago Ind" labels on the exterior, but I'm talking the large letters on the front cap.

Any ideas?

Can you see enough background in the photo to know that it's on the dealers lot or could it just be a stock photo of a View?

Winnebago makes Itasca and Winnebago in the same factory. They come in different colors, but they are the same vehicles.

The paint job on the side (as seen from the 'Winnebago' front) definitely looks like a Navion rather than View. My guess is somebody goofed at the factory and got the wrong name on it. The ones in the 2016 brochure say Itasca in front.

I'm aware that Winnebago manufactures the Navion and the View at the same factory and that they are very similar if not almost identical.

Winnebago only allows one "Winnebago" dealer in a certain geographical area. By having the Itasca brand, a nearby dealer can sell virtually the same product under the "Itasca" name. Such is the case in my area, with a Winnebago and Itasca dealer about 8 miles apart.

Perhaps it was simply a mistake at the factory.

It appears Winnebago has ended the name Itasca. While the models, I.e., Sunstar, Sunova, etc. continue the name on the front and back is Winnebago.

So will Winnebago, for example manufacture a Winnebago View and a Winnebago (formerly) Itasca Navion? Or are the entire model names of Itasca now gone?

The site no longer lists Itasca as a brand name They're all under Winnebago Products.

How did they apparently NOT issue a press release about the demise of the Itasca nameplate???

Not yet. In fact, they are displayed side-by-side with the corresponding Winnebago model names, with identical prices, when you click on the products page.

I could NOT find the word "Itasca" on the Corporate website anywhere.

I'm amazed they apparently thought this change might go un-noticed.

They did issue a notice two months ago. I just got a new Winnebago Suncruiser 38Q. It was ordered in early August as an Itasca. Same as the Aventurer although my interior color options were different.

The only difference was the color options you could order. While they are all Winnebago Ind they still retain the original model names and differences in color.

Potato, Po tat o, A rose by any other name still smells the same.

I have never seen a press release from any RV manufacturer announcing that they discontinued anything.... but they are never to shy to publicize anything they think will increase sales of what they do sell.

Apparently this started sometime in 2014 as the 2014 Brochures have the Itasca Logo and mention Itasca in it while the 2015 Brochures have the Winnebago Logo on the Brochure and don't mention Itasca but they show ITASCA branded vehicles in the photos. All the press releases are online but none (2013-2015) mention anything about doing away with the Itasca Brand. The goitasca.com website now points to the Winnebago main website. Looks like a phasing out of the brand. A press release would have been nice. Wonder if being labeled as a "discontinued" brand will affect the value?

The only reason we have an Itasca is because we liked the interior and exterior colors better than what they offered on the Adventurer.

We also liked the interior and especially the exterior colors and paint scheme on our Itasca Navion, rather than the Winnebago View.
