Leaf and Springs vs Shocks and Sway

Hey folks. Trying to improve my ride, feel fewer bumps, and make it lean less. So I took my ‘15 31h to a spring shop and they advised me not to go with upgraded sway bar and also skip the shock upgrade. The rig has air bladders but the shop said they are not helping much due to the short space they help with. They recommended additional leaves and replacing the coils/springs. Has anyone here done that to their RV? What were the results? Quote is $5k!!

Welcome RDriver

See, we all have different RVs with different chassis and suspensions. So, we're not sure which chassis/suspension you are talking about.

Could you please respond with your Model, kind of chassis, etc. I guess you have a 2015 because you said '15 but 31h??? No clue what that is.

A lot of us have tried a LOT of suspension mods and we'd be happy to help.

31h I'm assuming it's a Spirit or Minnie Winnie on the E450.

Plenty have experienced improvement with upgraded Hellwig sway bars. That would handle the leaning side to side in a turn. I have a short 'C' so I only upgraded the front. My rear end does have a track bar on it however.

As to the shocks, I've never replaced them on any rig I've owned. Can't help you there.

I think the airbags do an ok job.

Hello, I replaced my rear sway with a hellwig, added sumo springs front and rear, added additional rear sway, roadmaster, that goes in front of the axel, new shock absorbers (front and rear) and one additional leaf in my springs. Now my 24v drives like a Cadillac…lol

Thanks familar with Roadmaster tow bars have been using them for years. Did not know they made anti sway bars for Mercedes. Trying to figure what I will need to do to our View when we finally get it.

This is the actual auxiliary sway bar, not a replacement for the factory sway bar, but an additional one. I did replace the factory one with the hellwig also as a fyi.
