Larger fuel tank in Sprinter based class C

Has anyone added a larger fuel tank to a sprinter based class C? Do you regret doing it? How much did it cost?

We are looking at Sprinter EKKO and I like the idea of a large fuel tank.

Thank you

KC

The $1,500 47 gallon S&B tank is popular over on the Sprinter forum but mostly for vans, not motorhomes. Most folks DIY. On a motorhome you have to consider if there is room since there is usually plumbing in the way, and for any Sprinter you also have to consider the extra weight as the payload is not much on Sprinter RVs.
I did consider it briefly but decided I didn't need it, I have 26 gallons and it is enough for 6-8 hours of driving which is plenty for us. I understand some of the newer Sprinters only hold 24 gallons?

PS: If you do go with the bigger tank your dash display for "miles to empty" will no longer be accurate and your gauge will stay at full for a long time before it starts to drop.
