HELP ... Winnebago Navion rear brake light issue

Hi.
I have a used 2009 WInnebago Navion , 40,000 miles....and one of the rear brake lights is broken...........I opened it and the bulb brake light bulb was melted and stuck by surrounding plastic. I hear its a common issue in these models.

QUestioni
1- How do I turn off the constant on Daytime driving lights DTL , so that bulbs are not constant on. ?

2- I want to replace the rear brake light bulb with LED bulbs. Are the LEd better in that they produce LESS heat ?

3 which LED maker is best for the Navion ? I see many sold on ebay, but I bought one set of 1157 for the brake light.......but one side works, the other does not ..........and neither lights light up in daytime while brakes are applied. I returned the bulbs.

Help and advice appreciated.

I wanted to avoid stock 1157 halogen light bulbs, as I fear they may melt the plastic again.... which cost me $$115 for the brakelght assembly.

Hi Highender,
This previous thread discusses your issue:

Yes, LED replacements would be a great idea.
Thanks, Eagle5
