Flat towing a Kia Del Sol

Greetings fellow travelers!
Anyone pull a Kia Del Sol as a toad? I have read only the manual transmissions make it doable. Any issues? Concerns? Impact on MPG??

Thanks, Craig

I searched high and low and cannot find a Kia Del Sol listed anywhere on line. If this is another name for a Kia Soul, I can tell you that my 2016 6-speed manual trans model has been completely trouble free for about 20K miles of towing over 4 years (stayed home during the COVID thing.) I bought it new and the dealer verified that it is, in fact, towable 4-down. I did run a 12v charge line from the MH electrical connector to the Kia to keep the battery up ......... it uses Kia power for the RVI brake system I use. Installed my own base plate and wiring (kit) I got from etrailer.com (a bit of a chore, but at least I know the bolts are torqued to the spec values.)

Like most everyone else, I would agree that once underway, you never know it is back there. I leave the backup camera on as a monitor as I travel.....just my preference.

I have never taken a trip without it, but I have read on other forums that a small toad will result in about a 1 MPG "hit" on fuel consumption with most gasser coaches.

Hope this helps. Safe travels to ya.

If you can find one with standard transmission read the owners manual. Thats the really only way to know. I tow a KIA Sportage with a tow dolly. I had a hard time finding one that was not all wheel drive. Most folks who tow really are not to concerned about MPG.

If you mean a Kia Soul, there is member of the Vita and Porto group who flat tows a manual transmission Kia Soul.
We use a tow dolly for our 2021 Kia Soul.
