The original question was about the View design, not the panel. The View manual limit was 140 watt. Just to get it to generic to any panel knowing the View operates on a 12v system an amperage calculation was made in simple terms that any RV owner could understand. Everyone is an expert when it comes to panels for some reason. This was a simple question of could he use what he had. Yes, being careful. It was a great idea to use a fuse.

Fully agree. My point in providing the actual panel output voltage was to demonstrate that the suggested 15A fuse would NEVER get blown because the 180 W panel is not capable of putting out more than 10A, if even that. Period.

To get current you divide watts by voltage but the voltage from your panel is not 12 so the amps would not be 180/12 but rather the 180 divided by your panel output voltage. My output voltage is 40 so my current would be 180/40 which is less then 5 amps. Coming out of the controller the voltage is 13 and there you need a heavier wire.
