87 Minnie Winnie propane tank question

I have an 87 Minnie Winnie and it has some quirks, but is generally in solid shape. I have never used the propane because I'm afraid of it! It is an old, rusty, permanent mount propane tank below tge vehicle. I'd like to have this removed and the system converted to a removable 20 gal tank. Not knowing where to begin, can anyone point me in the right direction for how to get this done/is it ever done? I'd be looking for help in Central NY (between/around Syracuse to Albany). Thanks!

Not knowing your rig but probably cheaper to replace it with the same tank and regulator. Maybe find a mobile RV guy or a dealer.
