22M and others small shower doors

Hi - The small shower door on my new to us 22M is not the best setup and I was wondering how many have just removed the glass shower enclosure and put up a shower curtain.

The issue in the 22M is that when open the shower door is out in the middle of the room and is awkward to navigate.

I’m so tempted but don’t want to harm the motorhomes walls or value too much. I’d keep all the parts to put back in when it’s time to sell.

Thanks and any other suggestions or tips would be welcomed!

Kelm, our 2021 22M has a retractable shower door instead of a regular glass type door. I’m not sure when they made the change. It works pretty well. To your point, there is a limited amount of space in the bathroom.

Thanks Ron. If I could buy the retractable door at a reasonable price I would definitely change out my door with it. Can you send some pics of yours with some close ups of how it’s attached to the wall next time you are at your rv?

Will do Ben. Give me a few days since we’re not at home until the weekend. We have our 22M winterized but parked in our driveway. I’ll take a couple of pictures.

Hey Ron - see if you see any brand name on it. I’ve found a couple online. RecPro and Nautilus and wondered if it was either of those. Thanks Ben.

Ben, the retractable door we have is the Nautilus. It is screwed into the frame of the shower. I couldn’t locate a model or serial number. I did take a few pictures, but I couldn’t get them to download here to send them. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ron that does help. I'm still debating on doing it or not. The shower glass wall and door looks like it has to come out in 1 piece which may present unforeseen complications and maybe damage to the bathroom walls. It is probably fairly heavy. In a normal situation you would remove the door first but it's not possible how they have it installed.

I'm going to try and give it a little longer to see if I can live with it or not. Its just such a poor setup.

thanks again
Ben

I bet it’s one of those “pre-hung type doors where they are all one piece riveted together. I would imagine Winnebago found out there was a better option and went with the sliding door. Well it’s really not a door. I wouldn’t want to bump into mine with much force. Hope you’re getting ready to put some miles on yours. We’re getting ours Unwinterized the 1st week in April. We have a month long trip planned from Delaware-Florida and points in between. We found a very nice RV resort in Pensacola. Never been to that part of Florida.

It looks pre-hung. I guess you're right about Winnebago figuring out a better solution with the sliding door/curtain. We just got back from 2 weeks around Panama City area. There are some great State parks there. St Andrews, Top Sail Hill and Grayton Beach all good for bike riding. Never camped near Pensacola but have driven there a few times. We weren't able to get into the Naval base to see the National Aviation Museum there. I've heard its worth seeing. Safe travels!

Question Retractable shower door leaking

We purchased a 2022 2529RG about a month ago and finally took it out on a trip. The retractable shower door leaks on to the bathroom floor and I am thinking that the builders neglected to caulk appropriately.
I believe that we can just add the caulking ourselves, to the outside edge only, allowing the water on the "curtain" to leak back into the shower.
Does anyone know of a reason why we should not do this to rectify the problem?
