2022 Minnie Winnie 22M leak around bathroom skylight

We purchased this brand new from the dealer in 2023 and have had a problem with water leaking around th skylight in the bath since we got it..its been back to the dealer twice and they keep telling us they cant find the leak and then that they resealed around the skylight. Still leaking and i am afraid there is water damage now in the ceiling and possibly walls..has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Tanchar,
I have not had any problem with my 2019 Minnie Winnie 22M with leaks, either around the shower or otherwise. It seems to me that you have two options:

1. Find an independent RV Service technician to get a second opinion.
2. Get on the roof yourself and carefully inspect all of the self-leveling sealant around everything up there.

A tree branch can scrape-off the self-leveling sealant, and maybe not on the skylight itself, but perhaps from the waste tank vent or the bathroom skylight or from the edge of the flat roof where it too is sealed. Another option would be to carefully apply water and try to reproduce the leak to see from where it comes.
Remember that the self-leveling sealant is the secondary seal, and components are also glued-down with a separate sealant. The skylight actually specifies three different sealants. Maybe the skylight needs to be totally removed and resealed?
Here is the official sealant guide. I recommend that you only use Winnebago specified sealants, for if they do not match chemically, they will not bond properly. You can order sealants from Lichtsinn.

I have a 2021 Spirit 26T that developed a leak very early on. Rain would produce a slow drip from around the plastic trim of the skylight above the shower. An inspection from the roof revealed a tiny crack that almost looked like a 2-3”scratch in one corner above the sealant. I applied silicone caulk designed for vertical applications (not self leveling) then went around the base with another bead. No problem since! Then I found out I used the wrong sealant, but it’s still up there and no leaks. Good luck!

I wonder if the plastic from which the skylight is fabricated was somehow mis-formulated? If the skylight is too brittle, that might explain these leaks.

I’ve done a lot of reading but no posting for a long time until recently since I’ve been scratching my head over a water pump leak!

I took my skylight crack to be something like a stress fracture. I don’t know if they’re screwed down or the flexing of the body during travel. My older rigs skylight felt more “flexible” or not as hard if that makes sense. This one just feels like hard plastic. Or it could have gotten cracked at the factory. It was on of those that you had to go over and over with your finger to determine that it was actually a crack.

So, different rig, but my issue of the skylight leak in the bath was due to over torquing the fasteners during installation at the factory and breaking the plastic. No amount of goop on the roof fixed the leak. Had to be removed and a new one installed correctly. Winnebago paid for it. Apparently a pretty common problem during Covid manufacturing...

Our 2022 had the same issue,amongst many others, and after talking to the service manager at Winnebago they sent a new one for installation to the dealer. He said they were out sourcing the skylight and had many problems.Good luck.

Screw it down until it strips, then back it off a ¼ turn?

My '19 25 B skylight gets wet between the outer & inner shells. Only when I overwinter near Durham NC. I've water tested it until I'm blue in the face.
Never wet in any of our other travel areas. Drove/camped thru 3 hurricanes one summer even.
Wrote it off to normal condensation between inner & outer domes and dry out manually as needed.
Now for the wrinkle--I painted the dome white years ago because of the crazy heat that built up in the shower in the sun. Works great for that fwiw.
