Really enjoying our new 22M. However we have found perceived safety and security issues and did our best to solve them. Very scary that with the bedroom slide out persons could easily enter the coach through the big storage compartment under the bed. The storage compartment door is made of fiberglass and foam and is only 1/2" thick; easy to bend and pry open. For now I moved the lock on the generator door to the large compartment to thwart forced entry. Any other modifications made by members to this area? I don't like the compartment being open to the bedroom above although the access my prove convenient some day.
Another caution/advisement is to be careful of placing items on the shelf inside where the jack switches are located in the compartment. I had a water hose on a extension cord reel and moving things around activated the lowering of the jacks ? Imagine this happening when you are driving ???
On the positive side we have put more miles on the new airlift 5000 lb rear airbags and found the coach to be much more stable both parked, in cross winds and when passing or being passed by buses and big trucks. We installed level bubbles in the big compartment and with separate air lines to each side we can level the coach prior to travel. They were a good investment for $450 installed
Hi Tatanka01,
I'm just circling-back on your suggestion to move the lock from the generator door to the large compartment door. We have had tweekers down at Long Beach, Washington, and they typically will try a door or a window to see if it is loose, and only then will try to force it open. This additional pinning-down of the large compartment should eliminate some potential threats. Great idea; thanks!
