2016 (and newer) View Steering Wheel Controls

Question:
Can anyone confirm or deny that the "Infotainment System" steering wheel controls works in Views made between 2016 and 2019? (This is after the Axxess Interface removal recall)?

Backstory:
I've replaced the Xite/Riverpark "Infotainment System" in my 2019 View with a JVC unit. I'm happy with everything but I can't get the steering wheel controls (SWC) to work with the Axxess interface module, mainly because I can't locate the proper CAN bus connections in the dash. Knowing if the SWC ever worked in in these View years would help me know if the CAN bus wiring is even back there!

Bonus Question:
Has anyone been down this road and solved this problem before?

Any help appreciated here!
Bob

Steering Wheel Controls

I can confirm my controls worked with the OEM unit Winnie installed in my 2017 View "G". When I replaced it a couple of years ago I did not attempt to connect it. I had read it was and issue and the only way to make it work was to buy a new interface. I'm 6'5" tall so my arms are long enough to reach the controls on the new unit easily. You might check the View/Navion group on Facebook. There are many helpful people there that can provide in depth information about what works.

I have a ‘16 View and had Winnebago dealer remove the Axxess module in the right side kick panel. I contacted Axxess and bought their replacement module when I installed a Kenwood stereo to replace the garbage Infotainment system. SWC works just fine again.

On our 2016 View the Mercedes dealer did a "recall" on the xcite in-dash stereo which disconnected the steering wheel controls.
When we replaced the failed stereo with a Kenwood unit, the stereo shop installer was able to restore the steering wheel controls. As Alan said, If I remember correctly, the connection was made at the canbus in the passenger side wheel well. All good since.
Hope this helps. Regards, Mike
