Shower Curtain track install - Travato

One if the things I liked about the Thor Sequence was the shower curtain track in the bathroom. So I purchased a shower curtain track from Amazon along with clips to hang the curtain.

I used M4x12 and M4x20 SS self taping screws to put up the holders. There is not a lot or room along the edges so the short screws are necessary.I found that pushing the end of the track mounts between the wall and ceiling added strength to the install. I did not follow the track instructions. I put the holders up first and then snapped in the track. The track is plastic but has a metal piece running through the entire length so it is very strong. Follow the instructions carefully when unwrapping the track and when recurving it to fit around the corners. The slides move easily around the track. We used the original shower curtain (my wife shortened it by several inches) and use the two end snaps near the mirror.

I know that will make it easier to use the shower. Good job!

That’s pretty cool! I like your idea. Do you think instead of using screws, you could use something like Gorilla glue? How many fasteners are there. I’d like to use your idea on our 59K.

I am not sure glue would work because the faux leather ceiling is just stretched over (possibly) 1/8 th inch plywood. So if you glued it I think the weight of the track and shower curtain would pull the covering down from the wood backing. I drilled very small drill holes and used very short screws because there is not much room behind the wood backing. However, by sliding the supports between the wall and ceiling and carefully screwing the supports into the ceiling, I got a very stable track that sits right up onto the ceiling. I don’t think I would want to hang my whole weight on it, but it easily holds the shower curtain. I considered purchasing the side wall mounts that you can buy from the company rather than using the ceiling mounts, however, that puts the shower curtain further from the wall and I wanted to put it as close to the walls as I could.

I think you get 14 ceiling mounts with the kit for 3 meters of track, but you only use about 2 meters of track and I used 13 mounts with the two meters. Probably overkill, but I didn’t see any reason not to. I also used all 24 rollers and that is plenty. The original curtain works well if you sew up a few inches on the bottom. And I use the two snaps on the end to snap to the ceiling on either side of the mirror.

Winnebago gets a lot of ideas from customers/users. The 2022 K comes with that track installed and used with a couple of magnets makes a decent shower area. We hardly ever use the shower but it is nice to have it.

I see your point about using glue instead of screws. I thought there wasn’t a lot of space between the inside shower ceiling and the outside roof. But you solved that issue with your setup. Thanks. I’m going to order one of those today. We’ve been using our shower often during these Covid times. Thanks!

You’re welcome. I bought this set of screws from Amazon and used mostly the M4x12 and some M4 x 20. I carefully drilled a 1/16” starter hole to see whether an M4 x 20 would fit. In some places, such as above the drawers, there is plenty of space. That gives you more strength at the corners. Follow the unpacking directions carefully. I probably took an hour to carefully unbend and straighten the track. It has a metal rod the whole length and if you try to unwrap it too quickly you can break the plastic cover from the metal inside. I then laid it out and put bricks along the whole length and left it for 36 hours. It ended up perfectly straight, which makes it easier to make the two corner bends. It also helps if the rod is warm, not cold. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.
