Compressor Driven Fridge?

We just ordered a 2023 Era 70A 4X4
It has a compressor driven fridge I've had Norcolds and Residential fridge in previous coaches but never a compressor drive fridge .....
Is this similar to a residential ??
thanks

Aren't all residential fridges "compressor driven"? I've never owned or seen an absoprtion fridge in any residential kitchens that I know about. My Norcold DC0061 7cuft Navion fridge is "compressor driven" and it's a 12VDC only powered model. It works OK.

Residential refrigerator isn't a technical term, it simply means a compressor refrigerator like most of us have at home. That being said, there are absorption refrigerators that are intended for use in homes or cabins that don't have adequate electrical power. Conversely, just because a refrigerator is a compressor refrigerator, it doesn't mean it's a residential refrigerator. There are 12V compressor refrigerators that are made for boats, RVs, semi-trucks and other purposes.

If someone lives full time in their RV, (or boat or truck) and it came with an absorption fridge, that absorption fridge could be called "residential", since it's located in a "residence". Semantics R Us.

A residential fridge in an RV usually refers to an actual fridge that is sold for home kitchens. A compressor RV fridge is a fridge designed and built for a RV (or similar mobile use) but with a compressor cooling unit rather than a gas absorption cooling unit.

Also “Residential refrigerators” used in RVs run on 110v AC power, while RV Compressor refrigerators commonly are powered by 12v DC power.

So, in your case referring to the fridge in your newly ordered Era as a Compressor Fridge is the correct terminology - it is not a Residential Refrigerator. It is a small fridge designed to be used in a mobile application powered by 12v DC containing an electric compressor driven cooling unit.

This is why they didn’t call it a “Residential Refrigerator.”
