2022 Travato Nautilus P4

The 2022 Travato comes with the new Nautilus P4 water distribution system. This all-in-one system is quite handy and works as expected. The visual aids on the unit are especially helpful.

There is only one issue... but it is a big one. There is no way to close the passenger side back door with city water and/or cable plugged in. You would think that Winnebago would have considered this and placed a water-tight port in the back door to address this.

Anybody figure out a workaround to this problem?

You can get a flat tv cable I am told if you find an RV park where the coax actually works. Many, many people do not plug into city water and leave it on. They are afraid of flooding with the unknow city water pressure while they are out of the coach or sleeping. They will fill their fresh water tank, draw from there with pump and refill when needed but many are only in a park one or a few nights. I have heard that you can add a outside fill on that side of the coach but sorry I know no details but it would be pretty easy.

If I stay in a park with hook-ups I don't use them unless to dump if needed and to fill with water. I think Winnie looked at the majority of Travato owners and how they actually use the camper. They used to call it a "Touring Coach" whatever that is. I wonder if the Boldt is the same?

Thanks kmessinger. I was unaware of the existence of flat coaxial cables until you mentioned it. You make some good points about water use in campgrounds. Sometimes we stay for months at a campground so just using the city water to fill the fresh tank or for dumping would not meet all our needs.

My thought is that while the Nautilus P4 is ingenious, I would think Winnebago would have accounted for owners who prefer to use city water. Regardless, I knew what I was getting so all is well.

Winnebago seems proud of the fact that there are no exterior water connections that could freeze. Plus they seem to envision the Travato moving about not being lived in for extended periods in a RV park.

Which would explain the lack of a provision for external water connections.

Seems like you’ll need to figure out how to make this system work for your needs on your own. I’ll bet it can be done.

Thanks creativepart. I agree, this is something I need to figure out. Again, I knew what I was getting before I bought the unit so all is well.

In looking at the pictures of your unit (boy what a nice looking rig) I have an idea. If a solid (brass) 90 degree elbow will attach to your water inlet and allow the door to shut, if so. To make it semi permanent I would run solid water line across to the right hand side of unit. Then drill hole through the floor extend out the bottom with female connector. The cable could follow the same route.

Good Luck

WGO went to this setup/system because very, very few users hook up at CGs for extended periods. Emphasis on very few. It's contrary to what a class Bs mission is....

Please let us know 'what' you come up with please. We too desire to be connected to 'city' water, especially when taking showers. We generally stay on military bases for a few days, maybe 7-10 days and bike or walk everywhere. We first pick our 2022 K model up August 18th, We hope....We were traveling with a 2019 Sightseer 33C, BIG CHANGE for us. We want to see more of our friends and family and it will be much easier with the smaller class B AND my wife can help with the driving. We too are usually quite handy with 'Mods' and will post it here if we come up with a GOOD way to keep the doors closed and the water line connected. Ken S

Thanks all. I am not good with mods so I doubt I will come up with a solution anytime soon. Me and my wife are going to visit her sister next month. Her husband is pretty handy. I will get his opinion and let you know if we make any successful changes.

Yes, I used PEX and some elbows to reroute the connection and installed an exterior water inlet port on the driver's side rear behind the rear wheel on my 2022 Solis 59PX. Works great. The only reason why I can think of that Winnebago did not do this was to give their dealers a way to make some after-market money. Shame really, they should have included this for their customers. Otherwise, Winnie seems like it builds quality vs. the competition.

What I did:
for the cable, I installed a jack on the passenger side in line with the existing items (120v power, cable output, etc.). I rerouted the cable from the Nautilus unit to that jack (added an extension to the cable). Access is through the removable panel in front of the water pump compartment.
for the water: connect the hose, and when closing the door, put the hose in the lower right corner of the passenger side rear door. It crimps the hose a bit but it works.
MrNewYears, curious how you did that without some heavy drilling while working around existing tanks and pipes.
